Son of Sultan Kudarat town mayor, pal slain in gun attack

TACURONG CITY  – Two persons were killed, including the son of a tow mayor, and two others were hurt, including a minor, in a gun attack on Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.

Police Captain Leonel Delasan, Lutayan town police chief, told reporters the 6:30 p.m. shooting at the town’s public market left Datu Naga Mangudadatu, 30 a resident of Barangay Tamnag, Lutayan and son of town Mayor Pax Mangudadatu, dead.

Also killed was Dennis Hadji Daup, 25, a resident of Barangay Paitan, Mangudadatu town in Maguindanao del Sur.

Magnitude 5.9 quake jolts Davao region

KIDAPAWAN CITY – A magnitude 5.9 earthquake rocked Davao region early Saturday with the tremor being felt to as far Bukidnon, Gen. Santos City and Kidapawan City, the state volcanology office reported.

The quake came at 4:01 a.m. and its epicenter was found in Gov. Generoso, Davao Oriental.  It was tectonic in origin and has a depth of 065 kilometers.

The Phil. Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Intensity 2 was felt ion Kidapawan City, Makilala, Makilala, and Arakan in North Cotabato; Tupi and General Santos City in South Cotabato.

Ambush sa Aleosan, 6 CAFGU patay

ALEOSAN, North Cotabato – Anim na mga miembro ng CAFGU ang nasawi sa ambush na naganap sa Barnagay Tapudoc dito kaninang hapon.

Sa report ng Aleosan Municipal Police Station na pinamumunuan ni Major Jennefer C Amotan, naganap ang pananambang alas 2:30 ng hapon.  Ito ay kinumpirma din ng 602nd Infantry Brigade.

Ang mga biktima ay sakay ng mga motorsiklo patungo sa kanilang Mantawac CAFGU detachment sa boundary ng Barangay Bualan at Barangay Tapodoc nang sila ay paputukan.

Nakaganti pa ng putok ang mga CAFGU at may tinamaan din sa mga nang-ambush.

40 homes, business establishments destroyed by fire in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY - A fire of still unknown origin razed to the ground about 40 homes and establishments in Barangay Rosary Heights 13 at about 5 p.m. Friday.

Arson investigators are still determining what triggered the conflagration that came as heavy downpour was to touch ground in the city.

No one was reported injured in the incident.

Fire victims were termporarily sheltered at the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish compound and Biton Restaurant.

Troubled adult, minor partner commit suicide together

ESPERANZA, Sultan Kudarat - A 29-year-old man and his 14-year-old live-in partner together committed suicide in a remote village here after the girl’s parents repeatedly tried to separate them.

Ronald Labina and the minor Johanna Saliling, both ethnic Tedurays, hanged themselves using nylon ropes tied to the trusses of their small house in Barangay Pamantingan in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat.

A relative, who was to remind Saliling, a Grade 8 student, of an activity in school, found them both hanging lifeless inside their house on Wednesday morning.

2 patay sa pamamaril sa Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao

DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao del Norte - Patay ang dalawang lalaki na sakay ng kulay berde na Toyota Vios matapos na sila ay ambusin alas 8:40 ng umaga kanina sa Barangay Margues.

Sinabi ito ni Datu Odin Sinsuat town police chief Lt. Colonel Nelson Madiwo sa maikling phone interview ng DXMS Radyo Bida sa kanya.

Ang dalawa ay sakay ng walang plate numger na kotse na bumanggap sa isang bahay sa gilid ng kalsada.

Kasalukuyan pang pino-proseso ng scene of the crime operatives ang pinangyarihan ng pamamaril.

LPA off GenSan unlikely to develop into tropical cyclone

MANILA – The low pressure area (LPA) that the weather bureau has been monitoring is less likely to develop into a tropical cyclone, a forecaster said Thursday.

The LPA was last tracked 200 kilometers south southeast of General Santos City.

"This is also outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and is embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). It has a slim chance to develop into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours," said Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Daniel James Villamil.

Monday forecast: Fair weather, clear skies across PH

MANILA – Fair weather will prevail across the archipelago on Monday, the weather bureau said.

"Almost all parts of the country will experience fair weather and clear skies. The easterlies will also cause hot weather," weather forecaster Aldczar Auerlio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

He added that presently there is no low pressure area or weather disturbance directly affecting the country.

MAHIGPIT NA KINUNDINA NI Tacurong City Mayor Joseph Lechonsito ang pambobomba sa Yellow Bus kahapon na ikinasawi ng isa at ikinasugat ng 11 iba pa.

Ayon kay Lechonsito, ito ay kagagawan ng mga halang ang kaluluwa na nais guluhin ang Tacurong at ang mga mamamayan nito.

Hindi aniya titigl ang LGU hanggang hindi mapanagot ang mga may sala.

Nakiramay si Mayor Lechonsito sa pamilya ng nasawi at ng mga nasugatan.

Hiniling niya sa mga mamamayan na maging mapagbantay sa lahat ng pagkakataon, lalo na sa mga mataong lugar at sa mga bus terminal.

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao - Due to the incessant rains overnight caused by Tropical Storm Paeng, many residents were affected by flooding in this vast part of Mindanao today (October 28, 2022).
