MANILA – The opening up of the tourism industry in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) through an inter-regional airline route is a major feat in the region’s peace and order situation, according to Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU).

MANILA – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is wishing his daughter, Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio, a "good health" and "success" in leading the country as the second top government official in the next six years.

That was Duterte's birthday message for Sara who turns 44 on Tuesday, acting Presidential Spokesperson and Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said in a virtual press conference.

"The President's wishes for our Vice President-elect are good health and success in her role as the second highest official of the land," Andanar said.

Military authorities believed Dawlah Islamiyah terror group could be behind the bombings in Koronadal and Tacurong.

Brig. Gen. Eduardo Gubat, commander of the 6^th Infantry Division, has ordered hightened alert status on all Army units under the Joint Task Force Central (JTFC) following twin bombings in Koronadal and Tacurong City.

Gubat, also commander of JTFC, believed that the bombings could be the handiwork of followers of Abu Torayfe, leader of Dawlah Islamiyah terrorist group in Maguindanao.

KORONADAL CITY – The majority of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) members approved Monday the amendments to the environment code of South Cotabato province, particularly the provision on the lifting of the ban on open-pit mining in Tampakan town.
 
Voting for the ban's lifting were SP board members Glezel Trabado, who acted as presiding officer in the absence of Vice Governor Vicente de Jesus, Larry de Pedro VI, chairman of the Environment Committee, Dardanilo Dar, Noel Escobillo, Antonio Fungan, Eamon Gabriel Mati, and Henry Ladot.
 

MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), has already canvassed 149 of 173 Certificates of Canvass (COC) of the May 9 elections.

Comelec spokesperson, Director John Rex Laudiangco, said in a press briefing on Saturday at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Forum Tent in Pasay City that they are waiting for the remaining 24 COC to be electronically and manually submitted to the NBOC.

Three COC will be electronically transmitted from Jordan, Hong Kong, and Lanao del Sur.

Three village watchmen serving as perimeter peacekeepers were shot to death by still unidentified gunmen in Buluan, Maguindanao at 8:15 today.

Buluan PNP Chief Lt. Cemafranco Cemacio the victims were members of Buluan Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT).

The attackers remained unknown, voting was not interrupted despite the incident that occured just outside the voting center in Bulual Central School.

A driver of a mayoral candidate was also attacked and stabbed while driving near the voting center.
