Iligan police traffic chief perish in highway mishap

COTABATO CITY --- A police major at the helm of the traffic unit of the Iligan City police died in a highway accident Monday in Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental.

Victim Major Abogado Mautin was on his way to the Police Regional Office-10 in Cagayan de Oro City when his Toyota Innova was rammed by a wayward Isuzu Forward truck while driving through a stretch of the Iligan-Cagayan de Oro Highway in Barangay Mauswagon, Laguindingan.

Mautin, a Maranao, was born and raised in Balindong town in Lanao del Sur, according to relatives.


3 katao arestado sa ibat-ibang kaso sa South Cotabato

KORONADAL CITY – Tatlong taong may ibat-ibang kaso ang na-aresto sa magkaka-hiwalay na police operations araw ng Huwebes sa probinsya ng South Cotabato.

Ayon sa South Cotabato Provincial Police Office, unang na-aresto kahapon, April 29, sa Barangay Malaya sa bayan ng Banga, South Cotabato, si Ever Vicente Cabines na may kasong pagnanakaw na  2nd Municipal Trial Court ng Banga at Tantangan municipalities.

Ang warrant na isinilbi kay Cabines ng Banga Municipal Police sa ilalim ni Police Lt. Ricky Estorque Frias, ay pirmado ni Judge Glen Quimba.


Grenade blast rocks town proper of Carmen, North Cotabato

NORTH COTABATO --- A grenade explosion ripped through the premises of the municipal hall in Carmen Wednesday night, causing panic among residents.

The local government center building is near the municipal police station.

Residents have insinuated that the bombing was meant to intimidate their police force, now prosecuting the culprits in the August 2020 gun attack that killed their local police chief, Major Joan Resurrecion.

In an initial statement early Thursday, the Police Regional Office-12 said no one was hurt in the attack.

COTABATO CITY --- State agents seized P5.8 million worth of shabu in separate operations Tuesday in Basilan and in Tawi-Tawi provinces in the Bangsamoro region.

One of the operations resulted in the death of Alvin Sawadjaan Indanan, shot dead by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Batay sa salaysay ng isa sa mga biktima, patungo sila sa lugar lulan ng isang Toyota HiAce van upang sunduin ang isa pang kaanak nang bigla silang ratratin ng mga suspek gamit ang mga di natukoy na kalibre ng baril saka mabilis na tumakas.


Former councilor killed, wife, brother wounded in GenSan gun attack

GENERAL SANTOS CITY --- Investigators are still clueless on the fatal ambush here Sunday night of a former councilor in a nearby town, an attack that left his spouse and brother wounded.

Police Major Yol Hilado, chief of the Police Precinct 3 here, said Tuesday they are still trying to identify the killers of the 41-year-old Montasher Celozar Singcoy, who died on the spot from bullet wounds.

Singcoy was a former municipal councilor in nearby Malapatan town in Sarangani, about an hour away via overland travel from this city.


Cop killed, companions hurt in Cotabato anti-narc operation

NORTH COTABATO --- A policeman was killed while two companions were hurt in an anti-illegal drugs operation before dawn Wednesday in Alamada town that turned haywire.

Patrolman Emmanuel David Vales died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds.


1 kilo of shabu seized from couple in Marawi 

LANAO DEL SUR --- State agents confiscated P6.8 million worth of shabu from a couple entrapped Wednesday afternoon in Marawi City.

Ating Pundogar and his wife, Norhata, were immediately arrested after selling a kilo of shabu to agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency disguised as drug dependents in a tradeoff along a stretch of national highway in Barangay Matampay in Marawi City.

Juvenal Azurin, director of PDEA-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said the suspects are now detained.

“This is a big catch,” Azurin said.


Man, woman, child slain in Cotabato City ambush

COTABATO CITY --- Three were killed, one of them a grade school child, in an ambush at a residential area here at about 10:00 Tuesday.

The victims were together in a green Toyota Vios car en route to somewhere when they were attacked by gunmen while motoring through a busy thoroughfare Barangay Rosary Heights 11 in west of the city.

Col. Rommel Javier, director of the Cotabato City police, said responding probers have identified the two adults killed in the ambush as Norma Dalimbang Sapi and Ali Abdulrahim Tamal, who both died on the spot.


Army, police raise alert status after Cotabato City Maundy Thursday bombing

COTABATO CITY --- Authorities have tightened security in the city to prevent a repeat of the bombing on Thursday night that injured three residents.

The Task Force Kutawato of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division and the Cotabato City police are still trying to determine who could have perpetrated the bomb attack that triggered tension among the local communities.

Police Col. Rommel Javier, director of the Cotabato City police, said Friday blast victims Yusoph Talusan Kalim, Marguiana Kalim and Azmad Cader were immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment.
