KORONADAL CITY - Two shabu peddlers - one suspected of being a “killer-for-hire,” an extortionist and cattle thief, and the other among the top ten most wanted trafficker in Region 12 - were arrested in separate entrapment operations late Monday in Maguindanao del Norte province and nearby Tacurong City.

The first to fall in the two anti-narcotics stings was Joe Andy Hejosa Libres, entrapped by combined agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-12 and plainclothes policemen from units of the Police Regional Office-12 in Barangay New Isabela, Tacurong City.

COTABATO CITY - The police seized P8,160 worth of shabu, a pistol and a motorcycle without license plate from two suspected “killers-for-hire” intercepted at a checkpoint in Maguindanao del Norte on Friday night.

Brig. Gen. Allan Nobleza, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, announced here on Saturday that the duo, Gapor Eskak Marohom, 34, and his 42-year-old companion, Khadaffy Abdullah Kalog, are now locked in a detention facility of the police station in Datu Odin Sinsuat town in Maguindanao del Norte.

MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported 24 new cases related to fireworks, bringing the total tally of injuries to 52.

In its latest case bulletin, the DOH said the additional injuries included five cases of amputations -- three minors and two adults-- resulting in lost or mangled fingers and hands.

They are all males who used illegal Boga, Plapla, Five-star and Goodbye Philippines fireworks, and the legal whistle bomb.

“The 24 new cases of fireworks-related injuries, ranging from 5 to 52 years of age, involve only one female,” the DOH said.
