582 wanted law offenders arrested in Region 12 in January

GENERAL SANTOS CITY --- The police arrested a total of 582 law offenders, including persons wanted for heinous cases pending in courts, in separate operations in Region 12 from January 1 to 30, 2019.

Brig. Gen. Alfred Corpus, director of the Police Regional Office-12 here, said Wednesday a big number of people were nabbed in pursuit operations by personnel responding to reported crimes.

Stolen car recovered in Datu Odin Sinsuat

MAGUINDANAO --- The police recovered Tuesday a stolen white car abandoned by a driver after seeing a security roadblock ahead on a street he was to drive by.

The checkpoint in Broce area in Barangay Tamontaka in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao was set jointly by personnel of the Datu Odin Sinsuat municipal police and the Regional Highway Patrol Unit-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region after tipsters warned of the presence of a stolen white Mitsubishi G4 Mirage in a village nearby.

Sarangani's 7th most wanted shabu dealer arrested

COTABATO CITY  --- Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-12 arrested Monday the seventh most wanted shabu peddler in Sarangani province.

Alvin Palec Llaneza, 30, fell in an entrapment operation by PDEA-12 agents in Barangay Malandag in Malungon, Sarangani.

Naravy Duquiatan, director of PDEA-12, said Tuesday the operation that resulted in the arrest of Llaneza was assisted by the Police Regional Office-12 and the Sarangani provincial police office.

Assassination target kills gun-for-hire in bungled ambush

COTABATO CITY --- A gunman was killed by a businessman he and his accomplices were to kill Sunday in Pikit, North Cotabato.

Jade Tayuan Omar, whose red Mitsubishi Montero was shot with pistols by guns- for-hire, managed to ram his ambushers with his sports utility vehicle, killing one of them on the spot.

Captain Mautin Pangandigan, chief of the Pikit municipal police, identified the slain suspect as Antong Ibrahim, who hailed from Barangay Batulawan, Pikit.

Omar, who is based in Cotabato City, survived the attack unscathed.

Trike driver nabbed for gun possession in Maguindanao

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao  – Military personnel arrested Friday at a checkpoint in Maguindanao a man for possession of an unlicensed gun, the Army here today said.

Major Gen. Diosdado Carreon, commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said elements of the 14th Mechanized Company under 57th Infantry Battalion, who were manning the checkpoint in Barangay Elian, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao, arrested the man identified as Guidsali M. Sula, 25 years old, resident of Barangay Salbu of Datu Saudi Ampatuan.

Bomb making components, bullets seized from NPA’ home in North Cotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Police authorities in Magpet, North Cotabato arrested during law enforcement operation on Wednesday night an alleged New Peoples’ Army (NPA) member and seized from him bullets and bomb making components, including C-4 claymore mine.

Major Judgie Barotas, Magpet town police chief, said police armed with search warrant conducted the law enforcement operations at 10:45 p.m. in the house of Jun Cruz Navales in Purok 2, Barangay Inac, Magpet, Cotabato province.

Barotas said Navales was an active member of NPA operating in the hinterlands of Magpet.

Cotabato City lady village chair, 2 others injured in daylight ambush

COTABATO CITY  – Unidentified gunmen shot and serious injured Tuesday noon a village chairperson her and her two companion, police said.

Lt. Colonel Portia Manalad, Cotabato City police director, told reporters the shooting occurred at about 12:30 p.m. while on board a vehicle in front of San Roque parish church in Baranagay Bagua-Mother.

She identified the injured local official as Bai Ella Biruar, chairperson of Barangay Bagua-Mother, and her two companions, Jasmin Samson and Princess Odin.

Fire raze 17 houses in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY --- Seventeen houses were razed by fire that hit a residential site in Barangay Bagua here on Monday morning.

In a statement Tuesday, the Cotabato City fire station said probers are still trying to determine what triggered the fire, the city’s worst since first day of year 2020.

The office of Cotabato City Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi has dispatched social workers to attend to the needs of the fire victims.

Rape suspect from Zamboanga peninsula nabbed in Maguindanao

MAGUINDANAO --- The Datu Odin Sinsuat municipal police arrested Monday a Visayan fugitive from Zamboanga-Sibugay province who is wanted for two counts of rape.

Suspect Joseph Heneralao Aligato, 36, was immediately turned over to the municipal police office in Naga town in Zamboanga-Sibugay following his arrest in Barangay Awang in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

He relocated to Maguindanao province after Judge Anthony Isaw of the Regional Trial Court Branch 24 in Ipil, Zamboanga-Sibugay issued on October 1, 2018 a warrant for his arrest.

Soldier slain, pal hurt in North Cotabato ambush

MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato  – Military and police authorities here and in Maguindanao have been hunting two men who ambushed and killed a soldier and wounded another on Wednesday (Jan. 22).

Police Lt. Colonel John Miridel Calinga, Midsayap town police chief, identified the victims as Corporal Earl Tabaranza, 31, and Private First Class Meljay Bernal, 30, both members of the Army’s 34th Infantry Battalion.
