PDEA agents neutralize drug dealer in Buluan entrapment operation

MAGUINDANAO --- State agents shot dead a drug dealer for resisting arrest after an entrapment tradeoff involving P170,000 worth of shabu in Buluan town Thursday.

Jhetrue Mastura Tantong died from multiple bullet wounds while being rushed to a hospital.

Juvenal Azurin, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said the operation that resulted in the death of Tantong was assisted by the Buluan municipal police and the Army’s 40th Infantry Battalion.

GenSan cops arrest Chinese man, seize smuggled cigarettes

KORONADAL CITY – Police authorities in Gen. Santos City arrested a Chinese national and seized from him P8.9 million worth smuggled cigarettes Monday night.

Lieutenant Colonel Lino Capellan, speaking for police in the Soccsksargen region, said 271 boxes of Gudang Baru and Mighty brands of cigarettes, four sachets of suspected shabu were taken from the house rented by Zai Tian Shi at Oringo Subdivision, Barangay City Heights, Gen. Santos City.

Capellan said an undercover police agent managed to buy at about 9 p.m. five reams of Gudang Baru cigarettes for P3,000.

Twin grenade attacks in Maguindanao leave CAFGU dead, 2 soldiers hurt  

SHARIFF AGUAK, Maguindanao – Suspected Moro rebels harassed a quarantine detachment and a passenger bus that left one militiaman dead, another wounded and a soldier hurt Thursday night, authorities here said.

A Civilian Armed Geographical Unit (CAFGU) was killed while another was injured when two suspects lobbed a hand grenade at a COVID-19 quarantine checkpoints in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao at 7 p.m., according to Lt. Colonel Anhouvic Atilano, 6th Infantry Division spokesperson.

2 more NPA `extortionists' surrender in Sarangani

COTABATO CITY --- Two more members of the New People’s Army involved in the group’s collection of “protection money” from traders surrendered Thursday and pledged allegiance to the government.

The Police Regional Office-12 based in General Santos City said the duo, whose names were withheld pending their relocation to somewhere far from reach of their companions, yielded to officials of different PRO-12 units in Barangay Kalaneg in Maitum town in Sarangani.

NORTH COTABATO --- Apprehensive of criminal prosecution, a renegade Moro commander promised Wednesday to stand down from a clan war that escalated last week and displaced no fewer than 2,000 families.
 
Commander Butoh Sanday of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front was, in fact, stripped of his leadership of an MILF group in Pikit, North Cotabato by their central committee for various offenses and for leading attacks on rival forces last week.

NPAs burn P20 million worth heavy equipment in South Cotabato

SOUTH COTABATO --- Communist rebels set on fire more than P20 million worth of construction equipment in the hinterland Tiboli town Monday.

The Gemma Construction Company lost a backhoe, a payloader and a dump truck in the incident.

The South Cotabato provincial police said a group from the Far South Mindanao Region unit of the New People’s Army was behind the arson attack.

Workers were busy gathering sand and gravel in a quarry in Barangay Edwards in Tiboli when the NPAs arrived, herded them at one spot and burned the equipment using gasoline.

Drug dealer in hinterland Alamada town arrested

COTABATO CITY --- The fifth from among ten most wanted shabu dealers in North Cotabato province fell in an entrapment operation Monday.

The 23-year-old Jonathan Cantomayor Valderama was arrested in the act of selling shabu to non-uniformed policemen and personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-12 during a sting on Sunday morning at Sitio Bao in Barangay Kitob in Alamada, North Cotabato.

He is now in the custody of the Alamada municipal police, to be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, or Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

TESDA-12 to train ex-Reds on income generating projects

KORONADAL CITY - Forty-five former New Peoples' Army (NPA) rebels in South Cotabato are set to undergo skills training under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) programs as part of the national government’s enhanced reintegration program.

During a program in Barangay Ned, Lake Sebu, members of Militia ng Bayan (MB) and members of the Under Ground Mass Organization (UGMO) rejected communist ideology and return to the folds of the law as the government continues its efforts to end the insurgency in the country amid the pandemic COVID-19.

NPA official, two followers arrested in North Cotabato

NORTH COTABATO --- A joint Army-police team arrested a senior official of the New People’s Army and two followers in Matalam town Tuesday.

Cirilo Amit, an NPA finance officer in North Cotabato province, and two companions, Alex Zurita and Roberto Aspura, are now in the custody of the Matalam municipal police.

They were cornered in Barangay Alemodian in Matalam, North Cotabato by combined personnel of the local police and the Army’s 90th Infantry Battalion under the 602nd Brigade.
