Lanao Sur hospital continues operations amid 8-hour blackout

ILIGAN CITY – The operations of the state-run Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC) in Marawi City remained unhampered despite the eight-hour blackout that hit Lanao del Sur province on Thursday.

Dr. Shalimar Rakiin, APMC chief, said in a phone interview that the hospital is equipped with power generators that are on standby for sudden power interruptions, especially because the hospital is handling coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.

Midsayap tanod nabbed for selling P680,000 worth of shabu

COTABATO CITY ---- State agents seized P680,000 worth of shabu from a barangay tanod who fell in an entrapment operation in Midsayap, North Cotabato Wednesday.

The 42-year-old Randy Arida Manto is now in the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 12.

Naravy Duquiatan, director of PDEA-12, said Thursday Manto is a member of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team in Barangay Tumbras, an interior area in Midsayap town in the first district of North Cotabato.

Cotabato City heightens security after grenade blast

COTABATO CITY – The city police office has set up additional checkpoints and deployed more policemen on the streets following a grenade explosion at a residential area here on Monday night.

No one was hurt in the incident but has caused panic among residents of San Pablo Village in this city.

“We are still establishing a lead to the incident,” Capt. Rustom Pastolero, city police station 2 chief, said in an interview on Tuesday.

Floods submerge Cotabato City's low lying communities

COTABATO CITY – At least 10 villages in the city have been underwater due to heavy down pour Sunday, the city disaster office today said.

The Cotabato City disaster risk reduction and management council, reported that among the flooded areas are those sitting beside the city’s tributataries and Rio Grande de Mindanao.

These are Rosary Heights 8, Barangays Tamontaka 1,2, 3, 4 and 5, Rosary Heights 3, 5 and 7, Barangay Poblacion Mother, Poblacion 1, 2, 3, 8 and 9, Rosary Heights 3, 6 and 7.

ILOILO CITY – The llonggo community is one in rejoicing with Rabiya Mateo after she won the Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) 2020 crown Sunday morning.

“The Ilonggo community is truly proud of her achievement. She is an epitome that Iloilo City can truly level-up and rise above challenges during these times,” Mayor Jerry Treñas said.

NDBC COVID WATCH: 64 win fight vs virus, 63 new cases and 5 deaths in Region 12

COTABATO CITY - Five patients diagnosed with Covid-19 have died as of yesterday, raising the death toll on Covid 19 related disases to 71, the Department of Health said.

Also yesterday, 64 patients suffering from the virus have survived and are on their way home to fully recover. The total number of patients to have recovered rose to 1,651.

Of the 64 recovered cases, 26 were from Gen. Santos City, Cotabato City (24), South Cotabato (12), and North Cotabato (2).

Humble beginnings of Bubong CCNHS site

What began in 2010 as an extension facility of the Cotabato City National High School (CCNHS) is now a functional institution but still needs continuing support from prospective benefactors to maximize its operation.

The Bubong Site of the CCNHS located in the interior Barangay Bubong in west of Cotabato City started a decade ago only with two classrooms in a swampy field near the tourist attraction Timako Hill.

The school was activated in 2010 but its present administration workforce took off and became fully operational only in 2013.
