Flash floods hit Magpet village in North Cotabato

Ito ang naging sitwasyon sa Brgy. Manobo (Tico) sa Magpet, North Cotabato kamakalawa, kasagsagan ng malakas na buhos ng ulan.

Ayon kay MDRRM Officer Donald Homez, sa nasabing flashflood, wala namang naitalang casualty sa lugar at wala ring bahay ang nasira.

Sa ngayon ay balik normal na ang sitwasyon sa lugar.

Ang Barangay Tico ay nasa bulubunduking bahagi ng Magpet at isa sa pinakamalayong barangay ng bayan.


4 drug den operators in General Santos City arrested

GENERAL SANTOS CITY ---  The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency filed Wednesday criminal cases against four operators of clandestine drug dens here who fell in a sting two days before.

In a statement Wednesday, the PDEA Region 12 office said Mansor Mandao, 23, Krismark Perocho, 20, Kris Kristoffer Son, 38, and the 38-year-old Kaylen Barcenas are now detained, awaiting prosecution.

The PDEA-12 has charged all four of them with violation of the Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.


DPWH-12 completes P76-M road network to NoCot shrine

M’LANG, North Cotabato – The Department of Public Works and Highways in Region 12 (Soccsksargen) announced Wednesday the completion of the PHP76-million road network project here leading to a Catholic mountain shrine. 

The road project was implemented through the DPWH North Cotabato 2nd district engineering office. 

DPWH North Cotabato 2nd District Engineer Eddie Amir said local tourists and devotees now have better access to the Shrine of the Holy Cross in Barangay Nueva Vida after the DPWH-12 completed its construction work going to the historic shrine. 


A peculiar burial procession in Aleosan, North Cotabato

COTABATO CITY -- Filipino ingenuity. 

This made easy for members of an Ilonggo clan in Aleosan, North Cotabato their transport of the remains of a departed relative to a barrio cemetery after heavy rains prior left the only overland route to the site virtually impassable.

Using a raft fashioned from buoyant banana trunks, they managed to transfer last Monday the dead from one bank of the river to another in Barangay Palacat, Aleosan where the graveyard is.


Floods submerge Barangay Dumadalig in Tantangan, South Cotabato

KORONADAL CITY - Naperwisyo nga hanggang bewang na baha ang mga mamamayan sa Barangay Dumadalig Tantangan, South Cotabato kahapon.

Kasunod ito ng malakas na buhos ng ulan.

Ayon kay South Cotabato Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rolly Aquino, agad namang nagpadala ng team para tingnan ang kalagayan ng mga apektadong mga mamamayan ang kanilang tanggapan.

Nilinaw naman ni Aquino na matapos ang ulan humupa din ang baha. Gayunpaman ayon kay Aquino patuloy pa rin silang nakaalerto sa ngayon at handang magpatupad ng evacuation kung kinakailangan.


Zambo Sur-based Army general succumbs to Covid-19

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A ranking official of the Zamboanga Del Sur-based 1st Infantry Division succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019, his classmates at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1989 announced Monday.

The military official was identified as 1st Infantry Division assistant commander Brig. Gen. Bagnus Gaerlan Jr.

He succumbed to the disease around 5 a.m. at a Pagadian City hospital.


Finder returns wallet containing P51K cash 

GEN. SANTOS CITY - There is this young man who had won the immense admiration of residents of Glan municipality for an act of honesty that went viral on social media.

Keneth Horver Ferolino returned to its owner a wallet containing P51,000 worth cash he found somewhere in Glan over the weekend.

He first turned over the wallet to the Glan municipal police station, which, in turn helped locate its owner, Diocisimo Borres, Jr, a senior citizen.

An emotional Borres thanked Ferolino for his act of honesty in the presence of members of the Glan municipal police.


Cotabato Light announces franchise wide power service interruption on Sept 11

COTABATO CITY -- The Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) announced today a 2-hour power service interruption on Saturday, Sept. 11 in the whole of its franchise area.

This is due to facilitate transmission line activity of National Grid Corporation of the Philippines along the Sultan Kudarat-Datu Saudi Ampatuan 69KV line.

Service interruption will come at 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.


At least 4 hurt in Makilala highway mishap

KIDAPAWAN CITY - At least four persons were reported injured when two brand new pick-up vehicles collided head on along the national highway in Barangay Malasila, Makilala, North Cotabato Monday morning. 

Involved in the 6:30 a.m. mishap were a orange color Nissan Navara and Ford Ranger.

Traffic investigation continues as of posting.
