3 BIFF bandits killed in latest Maguindanao hostilities

MAGUINDANAO --- Soldiers killed three more members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and wounded four others in a spate of clashes at dawn Sunday.

The BIFF, which uses the flag of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, is tagged in all deadly bombings in central Mindanao since 2014.

Major Gen. Juvymax Uy of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division said soldiers were on their way to an interior area in Barangay Linantangan in Shariff Saidona Mustapha to check on the reported presence of BIFF gunmen in the area when they were attacked, sparking a gunfight.


Nurse killed in South Cotabato highway mishap

SOUTH COTABATO --- A male nurse was killed when a wayward pick-up truck hit him before it flipped, rolled over and landed on a grassy lot along a highway in Tupi town Saturday.

The Tupi municipal police identified the fatality as Robert Rojo.

Personnel of the South Cotabato Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office who were passing by provided Rojo emergency intervention and facilitated his transport to the hospital where he succumbed to injuries sustained from the accident.


7 cops in NoCot town test positive for Covid-19

KIDAPAWAN CITY  – Seven police officers in Mlang, North Cotabato have tested positive for Covid-19 but authorities said the implementation of health protocols continue unrestricted.

Lt. Colonel Realan Mamon, Mlang municipal police chief, said 50 police officers were subjected to antigen tests and eight have shown symptoms of Covid-19.

A swab confirmatory tests showed they have Covid-19 and are now isolated, Mamon said.

“They are now inside Mlang isolation facility but remained stable,” Mamon said in a radio interview.

Batay sa inisyal na impormasyon, nangunguryente lamang ng isda sa sapa ang biktima kung saan ikinabit nito ang kable sa poste ng Socoteco dahilan na nakuryente ito.

Kaagad itong isinugod sa South Cotabato Provincial Hospital ngunit hindi na umabot pang buhay.

Sa ngayon ay nakalagak na ang bangkay nito sa kanilang bahay.


Magpet vice mayor to act as mayor pero naka "work from home"

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Hanggat wala pang official order o letter mula sa National or Regional DILG Office sa uupong caretaker ng Magpet, Cotabato, mananatiling acting mayor si Vice-mayor Bebot Maranon.

Nabatid na wala pang instruction mula sa DILG na uupo bilang caretaker si MLGO Officer Ivy Cervantes matapos na ma-quarantine ang lahat ng miyembro ng Sangguniang Bayan.

Kahit naka quarantine ay tuloy ang pagiging acting mayor ni Maranon kaya walang pagbabago sa normal na operasyon ng munisipyo.


Mag 5.9 quake jolts mainland Mindanao, 7 aftershocks recorded

COTABATO CITY - An intensity 5.9 earthquake rocks mainland Mindanao Monday night with its epicenter found in Bukidnon, the state volcanology office said.

The Phil. Instititute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Dept of Science and Technology reported that the quake, which came at 10:38 p.m. was traced to Kadingilan, Bukidnon and tectonic in origin.

Specifically, the quake was traced 9 kilometers north of Kadingilan town.

No reported casualties or damages to properties as of posting.


After days of silence, Magpet mayor admits he is COVID-19 positive

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Mayor Florenito Gonzaga today admitted he was positive for COVID-19, days after he was not seen at the mayor's office and rumored to be in the hospital for still unknown illness.

In a statement posted on Uswag Magpet FB page, Gonzaga said he had just received the results of his swab test that he was positive of the virus and that's the reason why it was only now (Monday) that he issued official statement.


Lake Sebu Mayor Gandam tests positive for COVID-19

KORONADAL CITY - Lake Sebu Mayor Floro Gandam, kinumpirmang nagpositibo ito sa coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Ayon sa alkalde, asymptomatic ang kaniyang kalagayan at kasalukuyang naka-quarantine.

DILG acts as caretaker of Magpet after elected officials go on isolation/quarantine

MAGPET, North Cotabato - Inaantay nalang ngayon ng Municipal Local Government Operations Officer o MLGOO ang official report mula sa Municipal Health office bago uupo bilang caretaker ng Magpet Local Government Unit.

Ito matapos ma-quarantine ang Vice Mayor at mga konsehal dahil may close contact sila sa isang konsehal na kumpirmadong COVID-19 positive habang naka confine naman ang alkalde ng bayan.
