MinDA assists groups, coops to avail of loans, financing

KIDAPAWAN CITY - The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), even with a minuscule budget of P176-M, has initiated programs which could support Mindanao's socio-economic development without a lot of funding requirements.

One such program is called the ALALAI or simply Assistance in Loan Access for Livelihood and Agriculture Industries.


Another anti-COVID-19 facility up 

COTABATO CITY --- Officials inaugurated Tuesday the 100-bed COVID-19 isolation facility built by the Bangsamoro government beside the Datu Blah Sinsuat District Hospital in Upi, Maguindanao.

The launching of the facility, constructed in less than three months by the Ministry of Public Works-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, was led by physician Zul Qarneyn Abas, a member of the BARMM parliament.

Abas, as physician, is also a senior regional health official.

Engr. Eduard Guerra, public works minister of BARMM, was also present in the event.


SC clears NoCot guv, ex-hubby of criminal charges

COTABATO CITY – North Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco on Tuesday said she felt vindicated by the Supreme Court ruling dismissing the criminal charges filed against her and her former husband, Pompey Perez, over the alleged misuse of PHP5-million fertilizer funds by the local government of Poro in Cebu province in 2004.

“Justice has triumphed as the trumped-up case filed against me years ago has just been trashed by no less than the Supreme Court (SC) of the Philippines,” Catamco said in a statement.


Cadavers of kids drowned in Simuay River found

COTABATO CITY --- Rescuers found Monday the cadavers of three children drowned the day before in a large river in nearby Sultan Kudarat town, where a fourth victim is still missing.

The fatalities, Rhea Balasa, 10, her sibling, Renny, 8, and the 11-year-old Jennifer Suizo, were forced downstream to the western seacoast of Sultan Kudarat in Maguindanao province, where the large Simuay River drains.

Mayor want closure to fatal ambush of municipal councilor

MAGUINDANAO --- The mayor of Guindulungan urged the police to investigate extensively on the fatal ambush of a constituent-municipal councilor while on his way to office on Monday morning.

Morsid Lauban, member of the Sangguniang Bayan in Guindulungan town in Maguindanao, died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds.

Mayor Datu Midpantao Midtimbang, Jr. has urged the Maguindanao provincial police and the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region to identify the culprits for prosecution.


Maguindanao town councilor shot dead in Guindulungan ambush

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao -- Patay ang isang municipal councilor ng Guindulungan, Maguindanao matapos na ito ay ambusin pasado alas 7 ngayong umaga sa national highway ng Guindulungan town.

Sa report ng PNP, minamaneho ni Councilor Morcid Lauban ang kanyang black Toyota Hi-Lux nang paputukan ng di nakilala mga gunmen na sakay ng motorsiklo.

Siya ay nagsawi on the spot.

4 children die of drowning in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY  – Four children died of drowning Sunday along a major river in Maguindanao while another survived, officials here said.

Kadir Blaim, Sultan Kudarat town disaster risk reduction and management action officer, said five children were last seen swimming along Simuay River in Barangay Simuay at past 12 noon Sunday.

However, they were swept away from strong current toward the deeper part of the river.

“They were all children, they know how to swim but they were defeated by strong water current,” Blaim said.
