4 killed in Aleosan gun attacks

COTABATO CITY --- Four persons, one of them  a bus conductor, were killed in separate gun attacks in Aleosan, North Cotabato Saturday.

Three men together in a vehicle perished in the first incident, according to Police Captain Arvin John Cambang, chief of the Aleosan municipal police.

Cambang on Sunday morning said the victims, one of them identified as Darwin Sabes, were flagged down in Barangay Dualing by pistol-wielding suspects and shot one after another, killing them on the spot.


Basilan’s Isabela City under GCQ from Oct. 16 to 31

COTABATO CITY --- The city government of Isabela in Basilan is enforcing general community quarantine (GCQ) from October 16 to 31 to stop the spike in local COVID-19 cases.

Local officials, among them city administrator Joel Zanoria, confirmed this via posts on Facebook Saturday, the start of their GCQ enforcement.

Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman and her constituent-city officials reportedly agreed to enforce GCQ in the city to maximize efforts of preventing the spread of coronavirus infection among constituents.


As COVID-19 cases down, GenSan LGU lifts no movement Sunday

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – The city government will finally lift its five-month “stay at home Sunday” order for residents starting October 17 as new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) continued to decrease in the past two weeks.

City Mayor Ronnel Rivera said Friday the City Inter-Agency Task Force (CIATF) for the Management of Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases endorsed the move due to the improving Covid-19 situation here.


Troops foil roadside bombing in Basilan

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Government security forces have foiled a roadside bombing and defused an improvised explosive device (IED) in Basilan province on Friday.

Brig. Gen. Domingo Gobway, Army’s 101st Infantry Brigade commander and concurrent Joint Task Force (JTF)-Basilan chief, said the IED was recovered shortly before 7 a.m. along the roadside in Sitio Panansangan, Barangay Sengal, Lamitan City where a road construction project was ongoing.


2 alleged drug dealers arrested in Kidapawan City

KIDAPAWAN CITY --- Authorities nabbed here two alleged drug dealers in two days of anti-narcotics operations aided by vigilant residents and local officials.

The first to fall was the 31-year-old Juric Batooy, known as “Jake” among his contacts.

He was arrested before dawn Friday by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-12 who found 13 sachets of shabu in his house at Taran Subdivision here.

Naravy Duquiatan, director of PDEA-12, said Saturdy agents searched Batooy’s house for illegal drugs and firearms based on a warrant from a local court.


Gov. Catamco names former town mayor as new Provincial Administrator

KIDAPAWAN CITY - North Cotabato Gov. Nancy Catamco today announced that she appointed former Mayor Lani Candolada of Tulunan, North Cotabato as the new provincial administrator.

Candolada replaced former Administrator Efren Piñol Sr who is running for vice governor of North Cotabato in next year's local election.



10 efficient “Kampilan” soldiers promoted

COTABATO CITY - Ten enlisted members of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division were promoted a rank higher each Wednesday in recognition of their efficiency in public service. 

The event was one of the highlights of this week’s commemoration of the 34th anniversary of 6th ID, being done without traditional gatherings in compliance with state COVID-19 containment measures.  

The 6th ID is also known as the Army’s “Kampilan” Division.


Rough-toothed dolphins sighted in SarBay

KORONADAL CITY - The Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) of Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape (SBPS) has recently recorded the first sighting of Rough-toothed dolphins (Steno bredanensis) in the bay.

During the recent marine mammal monitoring in the protected seascape, the team from PAMO-SBPS, Sarangani Environmental Conservation and Protection Center (ECPC), local government unit of General Santos City, and DENR-12 sighted a pod with 10-12 individuals of Rough-toothed dolphins feeding on squids at the coastal waters of Glan, Sarangani Province.


2 soldiers, cop, 2 civilian cohorts face gun theft charges

COTABATO CITY --- The police shall file before weekend criminal cases versus five gunrunners, among them a policeman and two soldiers, caught in the act selling government firearms Tuesday in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

Eliver Jay Angot Soverano, Gleen Aragones Sangyao, Reynaldo Dechavez Dichosa, Morjan Tumindig and Adams Tumindig are now clamped down in a detention facility of the Datu Odin Sinsuat municipal police.

"A case is now being prepared against them," Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, said Wednesday.
