Accidental rocket blast scares villagers

MAGUINDANAO --- An MG520 attack helicopter accidentally launched Tuesday a rocket while hovering over a spot in the Cotabato Airport in Datu Odin town, setting off a powerful explosion felt in villages around.

The rocket landed and went off in an open field north of the airport.

Lt. Col. Anhouvic Atilano, spokesman of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said officials of the Tactical Operations Group -12 of the Philippine Air Force are still investigating on the incident.

Unexploded ordnance found in North Cotabato

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – An unexploded ordnance (UXO) was accidentally found by a concerned citizen in Purok Cocacola, Barangay Igbaras, Pigcawayan, North Cotabato on October 10, 2020.

The concerned citizen immediately reported the said UXO to the troops of 34th Infantry Battalion after he accidentally found it at 9:00 in the morning.

Personnel of 34th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team conduct safety procedures in the recovery of the UXO.

Upon technical evaluation by the 34th EOD team, it was determined that this was 81mm mortar high explosives cartridge.

Davao imposes earlier curfew hours, liquor ban

DAVAO CITY – Amid the surge in coronavirus cases here, Mayor Sara Z. Duterte issued Monday an executive order enforcing longer curfew hours and reinstating the ban on liquor drinking in public places.

Executive Order 55 imposes a curfew from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. everyday beginning October 15 until December 31 this year.

The liquor ban, on the other hand, will be implemented in public places such as roads, alleys, and open spaces every day at any given time.

Farmer kills "King Cobra," Python triggers power interruption in Kidapawan

KIDAPAWAN CITY - An estimated 8-10 foot python was electrocuted atop a transmission tower of 69KV line in Barnagay Meohao, Kidapawan Ctiy triggered massive blackout.

A farmer reprotedly killed a 10-foot "King Cobra," more known in the locality as "Banakon" as it tried to hit a farmer's chicken and other animals in Tulunan, North Cotabato.

Farmer Erning Sarvida was resting in his home in Barangay G. Baynosa when he noticed a huge "banakon" bout to attack his animals so he pulled a machete and using his full force hit the snake in its mid-section..

NoCot opens new Covid-19 facility with RT-PCR equipment

COTABATO CITY – North Cotabato has opened another major isolation facility for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients, Governor Nancy Catamco announced on Sunday. 

Catamco personally inspected on Saturday the health facility situated at the compound of the M’lang District Hospital located at Barangay Poblacion of M’lang town. 

The new 80-bed capacity isolation center has a molecular laboratory equipped with PHP15 million worth of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) machines that have a capacity to test 1,000 persons daily.

Public school teacher falls in Maguindanao drug buy-bust

COTABATO CITY – Police agents nabbed a public school teacher following a drug buy-bust operation in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao on Wednesday night.

Col. Erwin Tabora, Maguindanao police drug enforcement unit chief, identified the arrested teacher as Roy Martin Ledesma, 43, widower, of Barangay Broce in the municipality.

The suspect was arrested around 7 p.m. following an entrapment operation at his home in the village.

Cotabato Light skeds another power interruption in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY - The Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) has issued a notice of electric service power interruption on October 3, 2020 (Saturday) to facilitate upgrading of power lines in the area.

Power interruption will come at 7:00 AM - 12:00 NN along portions of Purok 3, San Vicente Academy, Barangay Rosary Heights 9, Cotabato City.
