Kidapawan educator-book author, pal make country proud for winning int'l contest

KIDAPAWAN CITY - A city-based book publisher, author and educator has made the city and the country proud for winning First Prize in the 2021 International Indie Children's Book Cover Award.

Mary Ann Ordinario, head and adminstrator of city-based ABC Educational Development Center head and member of National Book Development Board, won the the international recognition with illustrator Beth Parrocha.

The winning book cover award was: "The Pencil Who Would Not Write!"


NBDB holds first Children’s Literary Festival in Mindanao

KIDAPAWAN CITY - The National Book Development Board (NBDB) and ABC Educational Development Center have commenced the first Mindanao and ASEAN Children’s Literary Festival, with the theme “Mindanaoans in Unity Beyond Words,” for the whole month of October until November 6.

The Mindanao and ASEAN Children’s Literary Festival opened on October 9, Saturday, at 2PM, with special shadow play and dance performances from different Mindanao groups, highlighting the artistry and culture of the people in Mindanao.

DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao - Arestado ang lima katao kabilang na ang dalawang mga sundalo at isang pulis sa Barangay Tamontaka, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao matapos makuha sa kanila ang mga matataas na kalibre ng mga armas.

Ayon kay Maguindanao police provincial director Colonel Jibin Bongcayao, ang lima ay nadakip sa ikinasang entrapment operation sa Barangay Tamontaka, DOS, Maguindanao Martes ng umaga.

3 tricycle drivers in Midsayap, North Cotabato shot dead

COTABATO CITY --- Gunmen shot dead three tricycle drivers in a daring attack in Midsayap town in North Cotabato on Monday morning.

Lt. Col. Rolly Oranza, chief of the Midsayap municipal police, said Tuesday the fatalities, Nasrudin Mantikayan, 25, Paha Alimoden Ducay, 58, and the 29-year-old Ryan Usop Bano, all died from the spot from multiple bullet wounds in different parts of their bodies.


Fire hits Husky bus in Maguindanao

DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao - Biglang lumiyab ang isang unit ng Husky Bus sa highway ng Brgy. Kurintem, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

Ang naturang bus ay patungo sanang General Santos City nang mapansin ng isa sa mga pasahero na may umuusok sa likurang bahagi ng bus.

Sinabi ni DOS town police cheif Lt. Colonel Rommel Dela Vega na sa ngayon ay patuloy itong inaapula ng BFP Datu Odin Sinsuat.  Tuloy pa ang imbestigayon ng BFP at PNP, aniya.

Maswerte namang walang nasaktan sa insidente.


Army Captain, lady subordinate face adultery, concubinage charges

COTABATO CITY --- The police shall file adultery and concubinage cases against an Army captain and a young subordinate, both married, arrested while dating over the weekend in a resort in Parang, Maguindanao.

In a report Sunday to Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, the Parang municipal police is now in custody of the Army captain and his female subordinate, a Private 1st Class, nabbed while inside a cottage in Molina Resort in Parang at past midnight Saturday.


Drug den operator, 4 others arrested in Tacurong City

TACURONG CITY --- State agents arrested a drug den operator and four others in an operation here Friday that local officials assisted.

In a statement, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-12 identified the suspect as Jomar Patiño, 35, long wanted for distribution of shabu here and in nearby towns in Sultan Kudarat province.

PDEA-12 agents and members of the Tacurong City police found P78,400 worth of shabu in his hideout in Barangay Baras here that they searched for drugs and firearms based on a warrant issued by a local court.

Civilian surrenders gun to Maguindanao village exec

COTABATO CITY – Responding to the call of a police official in the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), a man in Maguindanao who possessed an unlicensed gun showed up at a village hall and turned over his firearms to local officials.

A certain man who introduced himself as “Toto,” showed up at the office of Barangay Chairperson Abdullah Mangadad of Barangay Pagagawan, Datu Montawl, Maguindanaon Tuesday morning. “He was carrying a foreign made machine pistol,” Chairman Mangadad said. “He politely handed over the gun with bullets to me.”


Cops probe killing of 3 persons in SoCot town

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Police have launched a deeper investigation into the suspected summary execution of three persons in a remote village in Polomolok, South Cotabato.

Lt. Col. Alex Joe Orcajada, chief of Polomolok municipal police station, said the three victims were found hogtied with gunshot wounds past 9 a.m. Monday near a river in Purok 2, Barangay Sulit.

He identified the victims as Jayson Endencio, 25, of Purok 1, Barangay Lapu; and Eros James Benosa, 18, and Carlyn Loyd Huelar, 22, both of Purok 6, Barangay Sulit.
