BARMM-READi admin and finance chief dies

COTABATO CITY - Officials of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Governments of the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (MILG-BARMM) mourned the passing of Evelyn Estorquia, administrative and finance chief of the BARMM's Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READi), the region's emergency response unit. 

"It is with deep sorrow that the Bangsamoro READi anounced the passing of our chief, admin and finance, Evelyn M. Estorquia, who peacefully joined her Creator today, April 5, 2021. She was 48," BARMM-READi said in a statement.


Bangsamoro region has new police director

MAGUINDANAO --- A new director for the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region shall assume within the week, key sources said Monday.

Police Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale shall replace Brig Gen. Samuel Rodriguez, who got to the helm of PRO-BAR last year.

Documents obtained Monday from the national headquarters of the Philippine National Police in Camp Crame in Quezon City indicated that Ugale shall start functioning as new director of PRO-BAR effective April 5.

Let us find time to reflect and discern the true message of Easter. May the lessons of Christ’s sacrifice remind us to remain steadfast in our commitment to serve others and rise above political differences.

UPDATE: 2 hurt as blast rocks Cotabato City on Holy Thursday, 2 more IEDs found

COTABATO CITY - A powerful explosion ripped through a busy street in Barangay Bagua Mother here that left two persosn injured, initial police reports showd.

The blast came at past 6 p.m. along Jose Lim Extension.

Two persons, Akmad Cade and Marguiana T Kalim, were rushed by responsing police to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center due to blast injuries.

Police are yet to determine the make of the explosive.

Bomb experts found two more improvised bomb near the area where the first IED went off. 


Lamitan’s ex-police chief commits suicide; probe on other angles on

COTABATO CITY --- The former police chief of Lamitan City in Basilan reportedly killed himself with his own pistol late Wednesday.

Responding police probers found the lifeless body of their erstwhile superior, Major Dennis Sirilan, on a mattress in a cottage in Barangay Calugusan in Lamitan City.

In an initial report to the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, the Basilan provincial police said Sirilan shot himself with a 9 millimeter pistol through the mouth.


PDEA BARMM destroys PHP22-M dangerous drugs

COTABATO CITY  – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) destroyed some PHP22 million worth of dangerous drugs at a private thermal facility in Maguindanao.

On Thursday, PDEA-BARMM chief Juvenal Azurin said the illegal drugs were confiscated and seized during anti-drug operation across the region since January this year.
