NPA bomb-maker killed in Sultan Kudarat

COTABATO CITY ---Authorities are preparing for possible retaliation by the New People’s Army for the death of a bomb-maker in a clash with soldiers Sunday.

Rosendo Cardiso, Jr., henchman of Joseph Longan who is an official of the NPA’s self-styled Daguma Command-Far South Mindanao Region, was killed in an encounter Sunday with personnel of the 37th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Sangay in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.

Barangay exec, tricycle driver busted in separate drug stings

COTABATO CITY --- Anti-narcotics agents entrapped Tuesday a barangay councilor long under surveillance for peddling shabu to constituents in Banisilan town in Cotabato province.

Another shabu trafficker, the tricycle driver Alvin Abedin Salip, also fell in an operation three hours later the same day in General Santos City in south of Region 12.

Aileen Lovitos, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 12, said Wednesday the 42-year-old barangay official, Mervin Delvo, is now detained, to be prosecuted for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

KORONADAL CITY - Police Colonel Cydric Earl Tamayo Monday assumed as the new provinciald director of South Cotabato replacing Colonel Nathaniel Villegas during simple turnover ceremonies at the South Cotabato Police Provincial Office, Koronadal City, South Cotabato.

Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, regional director for Soccsksargen region, administered the ceremonial turn over of office of the incoming and outgoing Provincial Director.

Cotabato Light to get dedicated 69KV line from NGCP

COTABATO CITY – Stable power supply awaits electric consumers here and in some parts of Datu Odin Sinsuat and Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte as less power service interruption is emerging in the Aboitiz-owned power firm franchise area.

Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) Engineering Head Engr. Harvy Ularan said that works are in progress for the establishment of a dedicated line from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

Cadaver of security guard in accidental drowning found

COTABATO CITY --- A guard in a local firm long bereft of a comfort room for its security group got drowned when he fell from one side of the Rio Grande River here while urinating early Sunday.

Rescuers found the cadaver of Carlo Tapioc Pradi of the Edsa Security Agency, that has a team guarding the riverside compound in Barangay Poblacion 7 here of the Comart Incorporated, at about noontime Monday adrift in a downstream channel of the Rio Grande.

The Comart, Inc. is owned by wealthy Chinese merchants trading processed agricultural products and other commercial goods.

Guard in firm without CR drowned while urinating along river 

COTABATO CITY --- A guard in a local firm long bereft of a comfort room for its security group fell early Sunday from one side of the Rio Grande River here while urinating and disappeared. 

Rescuers have since been searching for Carlo Tapioc Pradi of the Edsa Security Agency that has a team guarding the riverside compound of the Comart Incorporated in Barangay Poblacion 7 in north of this city. 

The firm is engaged in trading of processed agricultural products and other commercial goods.

MBHTE extends NDU’s autonomous status to 2025

COTABATO CITY—The autonomous status of Notre Dame University (NDU) has been extended by the BARMM’s Education Ministry effective until July 31, 2025.

The extension was in line with Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) Memorandum No. 07, series of 2023, extending the validity period of Autonomous and Deregulated Status Granted to Private Higher Education Institutions; and Memorandum No. 46, series of 2012, the “Policy-Standard to Enhance Quality Assurance in Philippine Higher Education through an Outcomes-based and Typology Based QA”.
