Magnitude 5.1 rocks Davao del Sur

KIDAPAWAN CITY - A magnitude 5.1 quake hit Davao del Sur Thursday afternoon, the state volcanology office today said.

Tectonic in origin, the tremor came at 2:21 p.m. and was traced eight kilometers south of Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.

It has a depth of 17 kilometers.

The reported Instrumental Intensities:

Intensity V- Koronadal City, South Cotabato
Intensity III - Kidapawan City, Cotabato
Intensity II - Kiamba, South Cotabato; General Santos City

No reported damages to properties as of posting.

Negosyante, binaril at napatay sa Koronadal City

Isang negosyante, binaril ng pinaniniwalaang riding-in-tandem suspects sa Koronadal City kaninang banda alas 10:30 ngayong umaga.

Batay sa inisyal na imbestigasyon, kinilala ang biktima na si Armando Surmillo, 61 anyos at residente ng Brgy. Sto Nino nitong lungsod.

Ayon sa ilang testigo, nagulat na lamang sila sa mga putok ng baril malapit sa itinatayong hardware shop ng biktima sa harap ng Villa Amor hotel.

Nagtamo ng mga tama ng bala ang biktima, kung saan ayon sa isang empleyado ay humihinga pa ito at conscious nang isinugod sa bahay pagamutan.

Due to rising Covid-19 cases, Cotabato City LGU re-imposes "No Movement Sunday" policy

COTABATO CITY  – Due to rising cased of Covid-19 infections in the city, the Cotabato City Inter-Agency Task Force on Covid 19 will re-impose the “No Movement Sunday” policy beginning May 9.

City Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi, IATF chair, said the decision was reached during the task force meeting to reevaluate the city quarantine protocols.

“It was in October last year when we had recorded the highest number of Covid-19 positive cases and since then, the number slowly declined until we have reached the lowest in February,” Mayor Sayadi said.

3 more drug rehab centers to rise in Region 12

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Three more government-operated drug rehabilitation centers will be established starting this year in Region 12 (Soccsksargen).

Katryn Gaye Abad, spokesperson of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 12, said that initial preparations are underway for the implementation of the projects funded by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB).

North Cotabato clarifies issue on "lockdown" in the province

1. REGARDING "LOCKDOWN" IN COTABATO PROVINCE

The Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF) will be holding a meeting this Tuesday, May 4, to be presided over by Governor Catamco. This is in light of the recent increase in positive cases in Region 12, and the entry of a COVID-19 variant in General Santos City which is also a part of this region.

The members of the PIATF, including the mayors, provincial heads of national government agencies and heads of Provincial Government offices, will deliberate and forward a recommendation for approval by the Governor.
