Ramadan begins on March 12 after moon was not sighted, Grand Mufti says

Bangsamoro Mufti Abdulrauf A. Guialani of the Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta' has announced that the crescent moon, marking the beginning of Ramadhan, has not been sighted.

Therefore, fasting for the Holy Month of Ramadhan 1445H / 2024 will begin on Tuesday, March 12.


Military bishop opposes rifle ownership for civilians

MANILA -- Military Ordinariate of the Philippines Bishop Oscar Jaime Florencio on Saturday said he does not support the decision of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to allow civilians to own semi-automatic rifles. 

“Personally, I would not want to have our civilians be allowed to possess semi-automatic rifles or any rifles for that matter," he said in an interview over Church-run Radyo Veritas. 

"We are a poor country. Why will we need those guns? Give them to authorities. If civilians are allowed to have guns, it might cause another big problem," added Florencio. 


Teacher, 2 others busted in Cotabato City drug den raid

COTABATO CITY - Anti-narcotics agents and officials of the Bangsamoro government arrested a drug den operator who is a teacher and his two accomplices in a joint operation inside the 32-hectare regional capitol here on Saturday afternoon.

The 63-year-old drug den operator Wajid Ibrahim Galib, who is a teacher and a known member of the LGBTQ community, and his two cohorts, John Lloyd Fernandez Compaña, 23, and the 25-year-old Ridzwan Ismael Abdulgani, are now in the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.


Mayor Bruce offers P500K for info on killers of "Choco" Marquez

COTABATO CITY - INANUNSYO ni Cotabato City Mayor Bruce Matabalo na magbibigay ang city government ng kalahating milyong piso sa sinumang makapagtuturo sa pumatay kay Jose Raymond “Choco” Marquez.

Ginawa ni Matabalao ang alok kasabay ng necrological service ng City LGU para kay Marquez sa city hall bago ang kanyang libing kahapon.

Sakay motorsiklo ang biktima nang pagbabarilin ng hindi pa nakikilalang salarin.

Natagpuang nakahandusay sa tapat ng Petron Gas Station sa bahagi ng Gen. Luna Street, Malibacao, Barangay Rosary Heights 4 ng lungsod.


Unang araw ng fire prevention month, isang bahay sa Cotabato City, nasunog

INAALAM pa ng Bureau of Fire Protection Cotabato City ang pinagmulan ng sunog sa Block 21, Barangay Rosary Heights 8 kahapon ng umaga kung saan isang bahay ang tinupok ng apoy.

Sinabi sa DXMS Radyo Bida ni Cotabato City BFP Relations Officer FO2 Anthony Henilo na nagsimula ang sunog sa ikalawang palapag ng bahay na pagma-may-ari ng isang Nestor Lemana.

Mahigit kumulang kalahating milyong piso ang danyos ng sunog. Ngunit pwede pa itong madagdagan.
