Solon files bill to divide Basilan into 2 legislative districts

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Representative Mujiv Hataman of the lone district of Basilan has filed a bill seeking to reapportion the province into two legislative districts.

Hataman said in a statement Tuesday that House Bill 10407, which was filed on Monday, would allow the local government to keep up with the increasing population of Basilan province, which is made up of two component cities and 11 municipalities.

COTABATO CITY – After over two years of exhaustive training, a total of 86 Local Government Operations Officers of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Governments in the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (MILG-BARMM) have graduated.

Finally, after over two years of training, examinations, simulation exercises, supervised field immersion, a total of 86 Local Government Operations Officers of the MILG graduated.

Tawi-Tawi town halls nearing completion, inauguration to follow

COTABATO CITY – The Ministry of the Interior and Local Governments in the Bangsamoro Region (MILG-BARMM) today announced that the three municipal building projects in Tawi-Tawi are nearing completion and will soon be inaugurated.

Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo, MILG-BARMM minister said the two storey building projects of MILG in the island municipalities of Simunul, Tandubas, and Sapa Sapa, all in the province of Tawi Tawi, are taking shape.

“We hope that by end of the year, substantial progress will be achieved,” he said.

2 hired killers, 5 BIFF members surrender in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY --- Two confessed guns-for-hire working for politicians and five members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters surrendered to the police Monday.

The group turned in assorted firearms, including 40 millimeter grenade launchers and an anti-tank B40 rocket.

Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, said they surrendered through the efforts of Vice Mayor Herodin Guiamano of Datu Salibo town in Maguindanao and the Maguindanao provincial police office.

86 LGOOs finish 2-year work-related training

COTABATO CITY --- A group of local government operations officers graduated Friday from a two-year schooling related to their functions focused partly on building a progressive Bangsamoro region.

Regional officials told reporters who covered the event that the training the 86 LGOOs underwent was meant to ensure their efficiency in serving the residents of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao according to the moral governance goals of BARMM’s Ministry of the Interior and Local Government.

MOLE wants fuel depots back in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY  --- The Bangsamoro labor minister has called on their regional parliament to focus on setting up depots in Maguindanao, where prices of petroleum are high due to the absence of such facilities.

Labor Minister Romeo Sema of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao filed at the BARMM parliament this week resolution 552 urging the regional government, stakeholders and the local communities to address the problem together.

53 more volunteer for WASAR training

COTABATO CITY --- Experts started training Tuesday 53 volunteers from Lanao del Sur on water search and rescue to boost the emergency response preparedness of the local communities.

The training is a joint program of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division Training School in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao and the Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READi) outfit of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

BARMM renews partnership with UK, UNICEF to boost Covid-19 response

COTABATO CITY–The Bangsamoro Government, through the Ministry of Health, entered into a new partnership with the United Kingdom (UK) Government and UNICEF, to strengthen and support the Covid-19 prevention efforts in the Bangsamoro region.
 
On Tuesday, Oct. 19, another project to combat the pandemic was introduced dubbed "Improving COVID-19 Vaccine Acceptance and Overcoming Covid-19 Vaccine Hesitancy and Refusal in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)".
 

Iqbal optimistic donated LCP equipment will benefit Bangsamoro learners

COTABATO CITY — Bangsamoro Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal is hopeful that Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) equipment and educational materials distributed to recipient schools will be of great help to the educators and Bangsamoro learners this year.
 
This came following the initial distribution of the LCP equipment and materials to 29 schools in the Cotabato City Schools Division Office held Thursday, Oct. 14.
 
Each school received a set of computer desktops, digital duplicators, bond papers, teachers’ kits, elementary books, flashcards, and water bottles.

MENRE leads adjudication proceedings for seized forest products in Upi, Maguindanao

COABATO CITY — Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) - Maguindanao Provincial Office held Wednesday, Oct. 13, an administrative adjudication proceedings on the seized 115 board feet of Gmelina species and 1 unit of a chainsaw in Brgy. Nuro, Upi, Maguindanao.
 
Upi Municipal Police Station (MPS) caught last August 7, 2021, two chainsaw operators and one Upi citizen who violated Presidential Decree 705 (Revised Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines) and Republic Act 9175 (Chainsaw Act of 2002).
