Kagi Murad: Reflect on Eid al-Adha for stronger, unified Bangsamoro

COTABATO CITY – As Muslims celebrated Eid al-Adha on Sunday, Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim called on the Bangsamoro community to reflect on the sacrifice and selflessness of Prophet Ibrahim.

“As we commemorate this day, let us emulate the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.), especially in times when fate is not on our side,” Ebrahim said in a news release.

Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith and obedience to Allah.

DOLE issues pay rules for Eid’l Adha

MANILA – Private sector employees who will not report for work on June 17, a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), are entitled to receive the full amount of their daily pay while those going on duty will be paid double, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reiterated.

COTABATO CITY — Bangsamoro women representatives from various organizations convened in a forum recently to discuss strategies for strengthening their participation in the upcoming first Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections in May 2025.

In this gathering, Sittie Nur Dayhanna Mohamad, Project Officer of the Al Mujadila Women’s Association, emphasized the significance of the reserved seat for the women’s sector, calling it “historical.”

“Women will now have spaces and relevant issues about us will now be addressed,” she said.

BARMM health workers get stalled incentives benefits

COTABATO CITY - The office of the newly designated Bangsamoro health minister has started releasing the unpaid Health Emergency Allowance (HEA) of field employees that were stalled for so long due to past management issues.

Nurses and midwives in the Ministry of Health-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao told reporters on Wednesday morning that their regional office started releasing the delayed HEAs last Monday, something that they have waited for so long.

COTABATO CITY — Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) joined on Wednesday the celebration of the 126th Philippine Independence Day.

In a statement, Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim urged his fellow Bangsamoro to be ‘custodians’ of democracy, setting a role model for the country.

“Let us also remain united, just like our forefathers, towards our vision for our beloved homeland, a Bangsamoro that is united, enlightened, self-governing, peaceful, just, morally upright, and progressive,” he said.

MSSD execs visit program beneficiaries, projects in MagSur

MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR — As part of the BARMM Ministry of Social Services and Development’s (MSSD) inaugural Management Committee Meeting for the 1st Quarter of 2024, executive officials, provincial and section heads, and focal persons of the Ministry visited the program beneficiaries and projects of MSSD in the eight municipalities of Maguindanao del Sur on June 6, 2024.

The areas visited during the simultaneous field activities were the municipalities of Ampatuan, Buluan, Datu Hofer, Datu Paglas, Datu Piang, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Mamasapano, and Shariff Aguak.

P500K worth of smuggled rice seized in Tawi-Tawi

CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao Norte - Joint personnel of Bongao Municipal Police Station, along with Tawi-Tawi PPO's Provincial Operations Unit and 1st Provincial Mobile First Company, 5th Regional Mobile Force Company RMFB14-B, and 1st Special Operations Unit-Maritime Group confiscated 400 sacks of alleged smuggled rice worth P508,000 on June 11, 2024 in Barangay Pagasinan, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

Accordingly, a concerned citizen reported to Bongao MPS the presence of 400 sacks of alleged smuggled rice piled near the bay area of Barangay Pagasinan.

P6.8-M worth shabu seized in Marawi police operation

COTABATO CITY - Policemen seized P6.8 million worth of shabu from three dealers, one of them a woman, entrapped in Barangay Cabingan in Marawi City on Wednesday morning.

Brig. Gen. Prexy Tanggawohn, director of the Police Regional Office, told reporters via Viber late Wednesday that the three suspects, whose names he withheld pending filing of corresponding cases against them, fell in a sting laid with the help of Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong, Jr. and Muslim clerics in different offices under his administration.
