BARMM's livelihood assistance to improve socio-economic conditions of IDPs in Marawi

COTABATO CITY — A total of 1,177 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Marawi City, Lanao del Sur were provided livelihood assistance  by the Ministry of Social Services and Development's (MSSD) Bangsamoro Sagip Kabuhayan (BSK).
 
The BSK is one of the programs implemented by MSSD under the Marawi Recovery, Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation Program of the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM), which targets to provide 2,000 indigent home-based IDPs with livelihood seed capital funds.

Over 9K health workers in BARMM vaccinated against Covid-19

COTABATO CITY — Health officials of the Bangsamoro Government reported that 65 percent of the total number of its priority recipients already received their first inoculation against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Physician Bashary Latiph, newly installed minister of the Ministry of Health (MOH), said the region has vaccinated 9,588 out of 14,750 persons from its A1 priority group as of April 20.

2 followers of Abu Toraifie killed in Army artillery attacks

MAGUIDANAO - Two followers of wanted terrorist Abu Toraife were killed in an Army artillery barrage before dawn Friday.

The targets of the bombardment were secluded areas in Shariff Saidona Mustapha, Maguindanao where members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters converged Thursday, as if preparing for an attack.

Community elders told reporters at noontime Friday that two followers of BIFF leader Abu Toraife -- Salem Ansao and Mudin Ramla - were killed when a 105 Howitzer cannon projectile landed near them and exploded.

Opportunities improve for 3,453 scholars of MBHTE’s technical-vocational courses

COTABATO CITY — A total of 3,453 scholars across the Bangsamoro region completed Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education – Technical Education and Skills Development’s (MBHTE-TESD) Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses for the first quarter of 2021.

“It will open more doors for our Bangsamoro learners to hone their skills and knowledge,” Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal said during his presentation of the TVET scholarship program last year.

BWC holds month-long Ramadhan symposia

COTABATO CITY — To heighten the spiritual aspect of every Muslim during this Holy month of Ramadhan, the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC) is organizing a series of weekly fora with a theme: “Nourishing Spiritual Wellness and Bringing Ourselves Closest”.
 
On Friday, April 16, the BWC held its first episode at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex (SKCC) in Cotabato City. This is in partnership with Ittihadun Nisa Foundation Inc. and Hay-ato Ulama El-Muslimina Bil-Filibbin Inc. 
 

P950-M BARMM banana investment eyed to help revive industry

COTABATO CITY -- The Regional Board of Investments of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (RBOI-BARMM) has approved the registration of Al Muzafar Agriventure Inc. (AMAVI) that would pour in PHP950 million worth of investments in the region’s banana industry.

The firm, also known as the Amavi Sweet Banana (ASB), plans to establish Cavendish banana plantations in a combined 1,000 hectares of arable lands in Datu Abdullah Sangki town and other municipalities in the province.

The watermelon, fishing capitals of 2 Bangsamoro provinces

COTABATO CITY --- There are two seaside southern towns now popular for monikers, or tags, that residents are so proud about.

Malabang town became known lately as “watermelon capital” of Lanao del Sur for its having been the top producer of watermelon from among 39 towns in the province in recent months.

There is, in fact, a big daily watermelon harvest surplus in Malabang since the April 13 start of the Islamic Ramadhan fasting season.   

BARMM trade industry calls for fair Ramadhan pricing

COTABATO CITY — Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT) urged the business sectors to be socially responsible and implement fair pricing, especially during this difficult times of pandemic while observing the month of Ramadhan.

The call was made by MTIT Minister Abuamri Taddik on the first day of fasting, April 13, aimed to suppress the usual abuse of some local businessmen who take advantage of the occasion by increasing their basic commodity prices during this month of sacrifice.

MILG-BARMM provide LGUs with mobility capacity

COTABATO CITY -- The Bangsamoro local government ministry will provide constituent-local government units with fire trucks and ambulances as capacity-building support.

Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and Regional Local Government Minister Naguib Sinarimbo inspected Thursday the vehicles temporarily pooled at BARMM’s capitol in Cotabato City.
