Army lieutenant killed, 9 others hurt in clash with terrorists in Sulu 

COTABATO CITY --- An Army lieutenant was killed while nine others were wounded in running gunfights in Patikul, Sulu Monday.

The slain officer, 1Lt. Ryan Lou Retener, belonged to the 32nd Infantry Battalion, one of several units in Sulu trying to clear the island province from Abu Sayyaf terrorists.

He and his subordinates were patrolling in Sitio Tubig Bukayon in Barangay Pansul in the overly dangerous Patikul town in Sulu when Abu Sayyaf gunmen attacked them from two directions, sparking a clash that lasted for more than two hours.

MILF wounded in hostilities in Maguindanao town

COTABATO CITY ---- Members of the Moro National Liberation Front wounded a Moro Islamic Liberation Front guerilla in a brief clash on Sunday morning in Sultan Kudarat town in Maguindanao.

Sulaiman Mingkot Macauyag of the MILF’s 128th Base Command sustained bullet wounds in the upper torso, now confined in a hospital.

In an initial report to the Maguindanao provincial police office, Major Julhamin Asdani of the Sultan Kudarat municipal police said Macauyag was shot and wounded by MNLF gunmen led by a certain Commander Samad. 

BARMM hires 42 health workers, other personnel to man Covid-19 facility in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Government's Ministry of Health (MOH-BARMM) hired 42 health workers and maintenance personnel to man the Covid-19 isolation facility in  Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital, in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

BARMM’s Health Minister Dr. Saffrullah Dipatuan led the contract signing and oath taking ceremony of 27 nurses, 3 respiratory therapists, 4 maintenance personnel, and 8 security personnel on Friday, June 19, 2020 at the MOH’s Training Hall in Cotabato City.

LSIs, residents out for so long return to Basilan with ease  

COTABATO CITY --- A total of 1,216 "native inhabitants" have returned to Basilan, among them longtime settlers in other regions enticed by the fragile peace now in the island province, officials said Friday.

Health officials and key sources from the Philippine Coast Guard confirmed Friday that the Basilan provincial government has facilitated the return to the province of 1,216 residents since May 25, all subjected to stringent COVID-19 examination processes.

Lanao Sur now has 51 coronavirus positive residents

COTABATO CITY --- Lanao del Sur province now has 51 COVID-19 cases, officials said Friday.

Lanao del Sur is one of the five provinces in the Bangsamoro region which now has 72 recorded cases of coronavirus infections since Malacañang declared a national health emergency last March.

Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong, Jr., chairman of the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council, said Friday they have intensified efforts to prevent the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 disease in the province where 49 residents tested positive to the novel coronavirus.

Covid-19 cases in BARMM now at 72, BIATF prompts LGUs to tighten measures

COTABATO CITY — Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) now has a total of 72 confirmed Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases according to the region’s Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

BIATF spokesperson Mohd Asnin Pendatun said as of today, June 18, of these 72 cases, 56 are considered active cases, 12 have recovered and 4 died.

BARMM celebrates World Blood Donor Day thru blood letting activity

COTABATO CITY  — In celebration of World Blood Donor Day, the Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Health (MOH), in partnership with the Cotabato Regional Medical Center (CRMC), conducted a mobile blood donation activity on Wednesday, June 17 at the Bangsamoro Government Center in Cotabato City.

Health Minister Dr. Saffrullah Dipatuan, who was also a blood donor during the activity, said the celebration was intended to give special appreciation to voluntary non-remunerated blood donors or those who give their blood without asking for any payment.

BTA-BARMM resumes regular session under new normal

COTABATO CITY – After more than two months of absence in legislative works, the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) of the Bangsamoro region has opened its 2nd Regular Session Tuesday under the new normal situation after more than two months of absence due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Following the minimum health standards set by the Bangsamoro Inter-Agency Task Force (BIATF) on Covid-19 which suggests holding events not exceeding with 50% of actual capacity of the venue, about 52 were physically responded to the roll call.

Other 17 lawmakers responded via video conference.

BTA Speaker Balindong donates 50,000 surgical masks to PNP frontliners

COTABATO CITY — Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament Speaker Atty. Ali Pangalian M. Balindong donated on Monday, June 15 a handsome 50,000 surgical masks to the frontliners of Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office.

43 Malaysians stranded in Sulu rescued

COTABATO CITY --- The police on Thursday ferried to Zamboanga City 43 Malaysians who got stranded in different towns in Sulu due to the nationwide COVID-19 quarantine. 

Police Col. Jacob Macabali, chief of the Regional Maritime Unit-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, said Friday they fetched the 43 Malaysian nationals in groups from the towns of Jolo, Pangutaran and Indanan in Sulu province and were, subsequently, brought to Zamboanga City by boat.
