Gunman kills Basilan village exec

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police is investigating the identity of the lone gunman behind the killing Monday of a village official in Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province.

Lt. Colonel Junpikar Sitin, Isabela City police chief, identified the victim as Jamirun Amigos, the village chief of Marang, Sumisip, Basilan.

Amigos was walking in front of a food chain outlet around 2 p.m. Monday in Barangay Isabela Proper Isabela City when shot to death by the gunman, Sitin said.

Cotabateños gets BARMM Ramadhan rations

COTABATO CITY ---A total of 12,895 families in seven barangays here received food provisions from the Bangsamoro government as part of its Ramadhan humanitarian support.

Cotabato City is the capital of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The region also covers the cities of Marawi and Lamitan and the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

Terrorist threats declining in BASULTA, Westmincom says

COTABATO CITY ­­­­­­­­- Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) Chief Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan, Jr. said terrorist threats in the island provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi have significantly declined in the last two years.

Vinluan said this during his courtesy visit to Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim on Monday, May 3, at the Bangsamoro Government Center in this city.

BARMM continues to build gov’t centers across the region

COTABATO CITY – Residents of Sultan Kudarat Municipality in Maguindanao province will soon have easier access to their local leaders upon completion of three (3) newly built two-storey barangay halls in their area.

The barangay halls, worth Php3.5 million each, will rise in the villages of Gang, Banubo, and Simuay of the municipality.

On Saturday, May 1, Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim and Local Government Minister Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo led the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of said government centers.

Labor Day: BARMM gives recognition to Bangsamoro workers

COTABATO CITY—To honor the great contribution of workers in the Bangsamoro region in improving its economic status, the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE) celebrated the Bangsamoro Labor Day on Saturday, May 1, in Cotabato City.

This year’s celebration bears the theme “Manggagawa: Kabalikat ng Pagbabago at Kaunlaran sa Bangsamoro.”

Prominent Mindanao historian affirms BARMM coming-of-age

COTABATO CITY – An eminent historian has expressed elation over the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) two years after it was created by law following a plebiscite in 2019 and amidst a popular movement calling for an extension of the transition period from the old to the new autonomous government.

“Historic,” said Rudy Buhay Rodil, a prolific author and academic who used to teach at the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology in Iligan City.

BARMM breaks ground for South Upi town hall construction

COTABATO CITY  — As part of providing public services to the Bangsamoro, the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG) led the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of 2-storey Municipal hall on Thursday at Barangay Timanan, South Upi in Maguindanao.
MILG Minister Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo also handed over a check worth Ph12.5 million—the first tranche which is equivalent of 50% of the projects—to South Upi Municipal Mayor Reynalbert O. Insular.

BARMM's livelihood assistance to improve socio-economic conditions of IDPs in Marawi

COTABATO CITY — A total of 1,177 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Marawi City, Lanao del Sur were provided livelihood assistance  by the Ministry of Social Services and Development's (MSSD) Bangsamoro Sagip Kabuhayan (BSK).
The BSK is one of the programs implemented by MSSD under the Marawi Recovery, Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation Program of the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM), which targets to provide 2,000 indigent home-based IDPs with livelihood seed capital funds.
