DBM OKs release of P335M of BARMM’s share in taxes, other fees

MANILA – The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the release of the share of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in taxes collected within the BARMM amounting to over PHP335 million.

In a press release Thursday, the agency said DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman approved the BARMM’s share in taxes and other fees on Monday.

“The release of funds means more development projects to be implemented for the people and government of BARMM. This is important in their exercise of their right to self-governance,” Pangandaman said.

SGA peace, development efforts tackled in forum

COTABATO CITY - Stakeholders agreed in a dialogue Tuesday to cooperate in working for peace and development in 63 Bangsamoro barangays in Cotabato province, 22 of which are in the troubled Pikit town.

Participants assured of their support to the governance initiatives of the Bangsamoro government in the 63 barangays.

The 63 barangays, located in different towns in Cotabato, which is under Administrative Region 12, are grouped as the Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

3 MILF members killed in Basilan hostilities

COTABATO CITY - Three members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front were killed in firefights with soldiers Tuesday in Barangay Ulitan in Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan.

Personnel of units under the 101st Infantry Brigade and MILF members are locked in a showdown in Barangay Ulitan since, local executives and senior police officials in Basilan told reporters Wednesday.

Local officials have confirmed the hostilities in Barangay Ulitan, Ungkaya Pukan that sent hundreds of villagers running for their lives and left three MILF members dead.

DBM chief dreams of a ‘thriving’ BARMM

MANILA – Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman on Monday said she is hoping to see a “thriving” Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

She made this remark as the country celebrates Sheikh Karimul Makhdum Day.

“The Department of Budget and Management joins the Muslim community in celebrating Sheikh Karimul Makhdum, a special public holiday of the @BangsamoroGovt commemorating the establishment of Islam in the country,” the DBM said on its official Twitter account.

Search for BARMM landslide victims called off

COTABATO CITY - Officials suspended since Wednesday the search for 12 still missing persons in villages hit by landslides as mud covering houses around got hardened by sunlight.

More than 30 people had been dug since Saturday from debris that covered villages in Barangay Kusiong in Datu Odin Sinsuat town in Maguindanao del Norte that cascaded from hills nearby, loosened by rains spawned by Tropical Storm Paeng.

More rice for BARMM's Paeng victims

COTABATO CITY - The Bangsamoro government dispersed 70 metric tons of rice Wednesday for distribution to calamity-stricken residents of towns in its core territory.

Senior Minister Abdulrauf Macacua of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao said Thursday residents of the 63 BARMM barangays in Cotabato province are among the beneficiaries of the relief operations.

BARMM, 3 other regions under state of calamity for 6 months

MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has signed a proclamation placing the regions of Calabarzon, Bicol, and Western Visayas, as well as the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) under a state of calamity for six months.

Marcos on Wednesday inked Proclamation 84, placing the four regions under a state of calamity in the aftermath of the former Severe Tropical Storm Paeng.

Under the proclamation, the state of calamity shall remain in force and effect for six months, “unless earlier lifted by the President.”

Ang naturang halaga ay tulong upang pambili ng materyales sa itatayo nilang mga bahay.

Deforestation, climate change dahilan ng trahedya sa Maguindanao, ayon kay PBBM

CAMPO SIONGCO, Maguindanao del Norte  - DAHIL SA deforestation at epekto ng climate change na nagdulot ng landslide at matinding pagbaha sa Maguindanao, nais ni Pang. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na gawing bahagi ng flood control project ng bawat LGU ang tree planting activity.

“Noong nasa helicopter kami ni [Maguindanao Governor] Bai Mariam, na-notice ko lahat ng gumuho kalbo ang bundok. That’s the problem,” ayon kay Marcos.
