Foreign donor, BARMM to help informal workers displaced by pandemic

COTABATO CITY --- The Bangsamoro government and the International Labour Organization will jointly assist 1,750 informal sector workers displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bangsamoro Labor Minister Romeo Sema said Monday the joint initiative, dubbed Community Emergency Employment Program, or CEEP, is meant to cushion the impact of the pandemic to informal sector workers.

BARMM social services ministry gives ₱3M assistance to Sulu IPHO

COTABATO CITY – To help poor patients in Sulu province, BARMM’s Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) provided ₱3 million worth of financial assistance to Sulu’s Integrated Provincial Hospital (IPHO).

On Thursday, October 8, MSSD Minister Raissa Jajurie signed a memorandum of agreement with IPHO Sulu Chief Dr. Farah Tan-Omar for the provision of the assistance.

MSSD is also set to provide ₱1-million each to Luuk District Hospital and Pangutaran District Hospital, both located in the province of Sulu.

MBHTE celebrates World Teachers’ Day, distributes learning materials

COTABATO CITY – In celebration of the World Teachers’ Day, and the formal opening of classes for School Year 2020-2021, the Bangsamoro Government’s education ministry handed over Monday, October 5, Adaptive Learning Materials (ALMs) to various school divisions superintendents in the region.

The materials included kits on Special Education (SPED) for children with special needs, Indigenous People’s Education (IPED), Kinder to Grade-three Mother Tongue Guide (K-3), and Abot Kaalaman sa Bangsamorong Nangangailangan Project (AKAP).

COTABATO CITY --- Three of those who passed the latest physician’s licensure examination are from Basilan, another feat that local residents are so proud about.

Basilan Gov. Jim Salliman said in a statement Saturday that he and his constituents are proud of having three more doctors of medicine in the province, Nada Hasanin Abdulmalik Ukkung, Irshada Palentinos Hasan and Dalvin Roy Wong.

“This proves that Basilan has indeed risen from its image of a so-troubled province. We have produced many professionals in the past five years,” Salliman said.

MSSD grants cash assistance to business owners

COTABATO CITY – Forty-seven  small business owners from North Kabuntalan in Maguindanao received P15,000.00 each during the Ministry of Social Services and Developments’ (MSSD-BARMM) launching of Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Seed Capital Fund for microenterprises affected by the COVID-19 in the region on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The beneficiaries, who were chosen after careful scrutiny, will use the capital fund to start or expand their small businesses. After receiving the grant, the beneficiaries will be strictly monitored to ensure that the money will be used properly.

4 more BARMM isolation facilities, nearing completion

COTABATO CITY — Four more isolation facilities for treating Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) in Bangsamoro region are nearing completion.

“We can utilize these isolation facilities for other provinces in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region,” Bangsamoro Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) spokesperson Mohd Asnin Pendatun said Monday, Sept. 30.

BARMM is targeting to have 600-bed capacity isolation facilities spread out all over its provinces, which included the two already-built isolation facilities in Maguindanao.

PWDs in Maguindanao receive cash assistance from BARMM

COTABATO CITY—Four hundred fifty-three (453) persons with disability (PWDs) from Datu Piang in Maguindanao received cash aid from the Bangsamoro’s Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD-BARMM).

During the official launching on Saturday, Sept. 26, of MSSD’s program dubbed “Kalinga Para sa may Kapansanan”, each of the PWDs received Php4,500.00 as part of their monthly allowance from January to September. 

The program aims to protect the PWDs in the Bangsamoro region from abuse, neglect and/or abandonment.

BARMM helps pandemic-affected private labor sector

COTABATO CITY --- The Bangsamoro labor ministry is now distributing monetary assistance to workers in private entities displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic, now damaging the regional business climate. 

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao covers Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi, where economy in most municipalities have barely reeled off from devastations wrought by decades of armed conflicts. 

BARMM procures more ventilators for COVID-19 patients

COTABATO CITY --- The Bangsamoro government purchased 10 units of mechanical ventilators frontliners can use for COVID-19 patients with breathing problems.

Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, local government minister of the Bangsamoro Automous Region in Muslim Mindanao, led the inspection of the ventilators a courier company delivered Friday at the BARMM capitol compound in Cotabato City.

Tawi-Tawi IPHO receives P5-million assistance from MSSD-BARMM

COTABATO CITY – Tawi-Tawi’s Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) received P5-million financial assistance from the Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD).

The fund will be used for the hospitalization, laboratory tests, and medicines of poor patients admitted at Datu Halun Sakilan Memorial Hospital located at Bongao island, the province’s capital.

Tawi-Tawi IPHO head Dr. Sangkula Laja signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with MSSD on Thursday, Sept. 24 for the provision of the financial assistance.
