Security sector: Good land administration can prevent clan wars  in BARMM

COTABATO CITY --- The police supports the efforts of the Bangsamoro government to maximize its land management system, the lack of it blamed for most bloody clan wars in the local communities.

Brig. Samuel Rodriquez of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region said Friday they appreciate the initial dialogue this week on extensive land administration among personnel of the region’s environment and natural resources ministry.

New Malaysian contingent to IMT arriving soon

COTABATO CITY --- The head of the Malaysian-led International Monitoring Team bade goodbye Wednesday to the Western Mindanao Command following a year-long peacekeeping stint in conflict flashpoint areas in the country’s south. 

Maj. Gen. Dato Hadji Muhammad Anwar Bin Abdullah of the Malaysian Royal Armed Forces had also personally thanked WestMinCom’s commander, Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., for supporting their peacekeeping efforts in southern provinces covered by the current peace overture of Malacañang and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

BTA approves Bangsamoro Civil Service Code

COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament approved on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 the Bangsamoro Civil Service Code (BCSC) during session 54 of its second regular session led by Speaker of the Day, Deputy Speaker Atty. Omar Yasser C. Sema.

BARMM gets more anti-COVID-19 equipment from foreign benefactors

COTABATO CITY ---- The New Zealand Embassy has donated 35 biosafety refrigerators to the Bangsamoro regional government to boost its anti-COVID-19 efforts in five provinces and three cities in its core territory.

Three transnational entities --- the German Cooperation, the United Kingdom Government and the International Organization for Migration, or IOM --- provided last January the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao with more than P40 million worth of anti-COVID-19 equipment.

UN remains committed to success of Bangsamoro transition – UN rep

COTABATO CITY — A United Nations (UN) representative who visited the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament confirmed on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 that the UN remains committed to the success of the Bangsamoro Transition.

Gustavo González, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in the Philippines, delivered this message during his delegation’s visit at Session No. 52 of the Parliament’s Second Regular Session.

González emphasized the UN is a global community of knowledge and they have participated in hundreds of ‘peace processes.’

Project TABANG continues to serve ‘poorest of the poor’ families in BARMM

COTABATO CITY - Project Tulong Alay sa Bangsamorong Nangangailangan (TABANG) continuously serve the Bangsamoro constituents, particularly the ‘poorest of the poor’ families in the region.
 
On Wednesday, Poject TABANG distributed relief goods, medicines, and other medical supplies to poverty-stricken areas of Maguindanao, including Buluan, Mangudadatu, and General Salipada K. Pendatun municipalities.
 

UNICEF supports possible back to face-to-face classes

THE United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has expressed support to possibility of bringing back learners to face-to-face classroom sessions in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Andrew Morris, chief of UNICEF Mindanao Field Office, said the international body is working along a program track on the “Safe return to school: An urgent priority to secure the future of every child in the Bangsamoro region.”

3 more years needed to fully deactivate MILF fighters

COTABATO CITY --- The 25-month Bangsamoro government needs three more years to reintroduce thousands of hardcore Moro guerillas into mainstream society, a senior regional official said Saturday.

The creation of the now two-year Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao that replaced in February 2019 the 29-year Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao is a product of 22 years of peace talks between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

106 former MILF combatants receive rice aid from Nat’l gov’t, BARMM, UNDP

COTABATO CITY — One-hundred six decommissioned Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) combatants benefitted from the first batch of rice assistance, as part of decommissioning package, at Camp Darapanan in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao on Wednesday.

Bangsamoro Executive Secretary Abdulraof Macacua said that the activity is yet another forward development in the quest for successful peace endeavor, noting that rice is a fundamental need of everyone.

BARMM provides mobility assistive devices to 1,500 PWDs, senior citizens

COTABATO CITY — Regional health officials announced on Tuesday, Feb. 9, that about 1,500 persons with disability (PWD) and senior citizens across the Bangsamoro region are set to receive wheelchairs, crutches, and walking canes from the Ministry of Health (MOH-BARMM).

MOH Minister Dr. Amirel Usman said the PWDs and senior citizens are the vulnerable members of society, thus efforts of the government should reach them.

“Hindi natin sila pwedeng pabayaan,” he said.
