Prices of food supplies in BARMM markets soar amid Ramadhan

COTABATO CITY --- The Bangsamoro government and its constituent-local government units have fused ranks to stop the practice of unscrupulous traders to increase prices of food supplies they sell in markets during the Islamic Ramadhan season.

This year’s Ramadhan started last Tuesday and shall last for 28 to 29 days, based on the lunar Hijrah calendar.

Free licensing for low-income drivers in BARMM on

COTABATO CITY -Marginalized drivers of passenger vehicles, cargo trucks and tricycles in the Bangsamoro region can now renew their licenses free via a program of their transportation and communications ministry.

Top officials of transport groups here told reporters on Tuesday morning that the free application of new and renewal of old licenses project of the office of Bangsamoro Transportation and Communications Minister Paisalin P. Tago and six members of the 80-seat regional parliament is a big help to low-income drivers in the region.

BARMM to introduce digital platform for secure data sharing

COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Government is soon to utilize a secured digital platform for document sharing, enhancing collaboration, communication, and work efficiency.
 
The Bangsamoro Information and Communications Technology Office (BICTO) introduced the 'Intranet Project' in a groundbreaking ceremony on March 1, inside the Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC) in this city, which will establish a private network within the organization, ensuring secure data exchange among authorized users.
 

PH Navy gunboat intercepts P64-M undocumented tobacco

MANILA – The Philippine Navy (PN) on Sunday announced that one of its patrol gunboats, the BRP Jose Loor Sr. (PC-390), had successfully intercepted and seized a motor launch carrying some PHP64 million of undocumented tobacco products during operations in the waters of Tawi-Tawi province last March 9.

Marcos wishes Muslim community ‘meaningful, solemn’ Ramadan

MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Sunday joined the Muslim community in the observance of the holy month of Ramadan.

“I am in solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters in the country and all over the world on the occasion of Ramadan,” President Marcos said in his message.

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims observe fasting and abstain from worldly pleasures as a means of spiritual discipline and deepening their connection with Allah.

The President said the demonstration of Muslims' faith allows them to create a stronger bond in their communities.

Marawi voters say "Yes" to creation of 3 new villages

MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) today announced that Marawi City registered voters voted to create three new villages in their city.

The Comelec said 2,123 out of 2,265 registered voters, or a turnout of  93 percent, have approved the creation of new local govenrment unit on last Saturday's plebiscite.  

The plebiscite created the following new villages: Barangay Sultan Corobong (created from Barangay Dulay Proper); Barangay Sultan Panoroganan (created from Barangay Kilala); and Barangay Angoyao (created from Barangay Patani).

3 Army battalions to secure plebiscite for creation of  8 Bangsamoro towns

COTABATO CITY - The Philippine Army will deploy three battalions of soldiers to help ensure a peaceful conduct of the April 13, 2024 plebiscite for the creation of eight municipalities covering 63 Bangsamoro barangays in different towns in North Cotabato province.

Major Gen. Alex Rillera, commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, told reporters, in a press briefing on Friday, that they shall mobilize the personnel of the 90th, 34th and 6th Infantry Battalions to help the Commission on Elections facilitate the plebiscite.

MILG-BARMM trains SK leaders on formulating dev’t plans and budgeting

COTABATO CITY – To capacitate Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials from the provinces of Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur, the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MILG-BARMM) provided training on youth officials on barangay youth development plan, investment plan and budgeting processes.

Residents oppose BARMM bill splitting Wao into two

COTABATO CITY --- Hundreds of Muslim and Christian villagers in Wao, Lanao del Sur staged a rally on Thursday morning to show opposition to a proposal by a member of the Bangsamoro parliament to divide their municipality into two via a legislative measure that they knew nothing about.
