IOM, Japan has another anti-COVID-19 program for BARMM

COTABATO CITY — Two foreign benefactors have earmarked US $2.7 million for a 12-month COVID-19 prevention program in the Bangsamororo Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The program, dubbed “Strengthening BARMM’s Preparedness and Response Capacity for Effective Covid-19 Prevention and Control,” shall be bankrolled by the International Organization for Migration of the United Nations and the Japanese government.

Physician Bashary Latiph, health minister of BARMM, said Friday the program will boost the Bangsamoro government’s COVID-19 containment efforts.

Over 2K Marawi IDPs to have bearable Ramadhan with BARMM’s relief aid

COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Government has started its week-long Ramadhan relief operation to at least 2,859 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Marawi City living in transitory shelters within Lanao Del Sur province.

The operation, which started Tuesday, April 13 in Boganga Shelter and CRS in Barangay Pantaon, was conducted by the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), in partnership with the BARMM Marawi Rehabilitation Program–Program Steering Committee (BARMM MRP–PSC) and Members of the Parliament in the Ranao region.

Education Ministry to assess quality of private Madrasahs across BARMM

COTABATO CITY — To institutionalize quality and effective Islamic Education in the Bangsamoro region, the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE) will be conducting a region-wide School-Based Assessment on Private Madrasah for S.Y 20210-2-21 starting April 5-23, 2021.

Through a Regional Memorandum No. 391 posted by MBHTE on its Facebook page, the ministry encouraged all Madrasah—whether accredited, unaccredited and traditional across the region—to participate and submit said report. (See link: bit.ly/3tfMhrv )

MSSD starts 1,500 shelter units construction; brings services in Tawi-Tawi

COTABATO CITY — Minister of Social Services and Development Raissa Jajurie led the groundbreaking ceremony for 100 shelter units worth Php50,000,000.00 under MSSD's Bangsamoro Housing Assistance (BAHAY) Program on Wednesday, April 7, in the Municipality of Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
 
BAHAY Program targeted 1,500 shelter units in BARMM for this year. Of which, 400 shelter units worth Php200, 000,000.00 goes to the province of Tawi-Tawi, 500 shelter units worth Php250, 000,000.00 for Marawi siege affected families, and 600 shelter units for the other provinces.
 

IOM donates anti-COVID-19 supplies to Basilan province

COTABATO CITY --- An entity under the United Nations donated Wednesday to Basilan province biohazard protection supplies and other provisions needed for domestic COVID-19 containment efforts.

The International Organization for Migration, or IOM, also supplied Basilan, through the office of Gov. Jim Salliman, eight “bio safety refrigerators” needed for storing anti-coronavirus vaccines and solar generators for each to ensure round-the-clock operability.

MNLF says new bridge can boost economy of Datu Blah Sinsuat 

COTABATO CITY --- The Moro National Liberation Front was elated with the completion of the multi-million bridge over Matuber River that now connects its enclaves during the 1970s to Cotabato City.

The 75-meter bridge linking the 13 barangays in Datu Blah Sinsuat, Maguindanao to nearby Datu Odin Sinsuat town and to Cotabato City was opened to traffic on Saturday.

Labor Minister Romeo Sema of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao said Sunday the infrastructure will spur livelihood opportunities for residents of Datu Blah Sinsuat.

New bridge connects 13 coastal barangays to Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY ---- Thirteen barangays in the western coast of Maguindanao are now connected by a new P108 million worth bridge to this city, something first in the 48-year history of the province.

The bridge connecting both banks of the Matuber River in Datu Blah Sinsuat, Maguindanao was launched Saturday by representatives from the Bangsamoro government led by Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim.

BWC strengthens women's participation thru women summit

COTABATO CITY—To further strengthen the transformative roles of women in the Bangsamoro region, the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC), in partnership with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), held a two-day Bangsamoro Women Summit on March 30-31 in the city.
 
Diverse Bangsamoro women leaders and rights advocates across the region participated in the summit to tackle different issues and challenges faced by women, and to support the advocacy on women’s meaningful political participation in the region.
 

6th ID gets isolation facility for Army frontliners

COTABATO CITY --- The Army shall start constructing next week in Camp Siongco a multi-million isolation facility for soldiers afflicted with COVID-19 while out on frontline quarantine duties.

Major Gen. Juvymax Uy, commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said Thursday the Bangsamoro regional government released on March 29 an initial P5.6 million tranche for the construction of the building inside Camp Siongco.
