BARMM expenditures transparent, budget intact, spox says

The Bangsamoro government fiscal transactions are transparent, above board, legal and no irregularities, an official of the young political entity said.

Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, speaking for the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), stressed that the regional government and all its offices and ministries have been implementing, from day one in office, the government’s full disclosure policy.

COVID-19 pandemic stifles passage of BARMM laws

COTABATO CITY - Three new regional laws are out, two of which are now being used as reference in the setting up of the infant Bangsamoro government’s pioneering personnel structure.

Members of the 80-seat Bangsamoro Transition Authority, known as the interim regional parliament, said Thursday they could have drafted and approved more regional laws if not for the COVID-19 pandemic that stifled their operation. 

MOST-BARMM allots P500,000 to renovate Halal verification lab

COTABATO CITY — Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) allotted P500,000 million for the renovation of Halal Verification Laboratory (HVL) under the Bangsamoro Standards and Halal Testing Laboratories (BSHTL) to accommodate the P47 million worth of high-end equipment and state-of-the-art technology for Halal verification testing.

The renovation started earlier this year and will be finished by July 2021. It is located at the old MOST premises inside Bangsamoro Government Center in Cotabato City.

COVID-19 claims lives of 5 persons in BARMM

COTABATO CITY - LIMA PANG MGA COVID-19 patients ang namatay sa Bangsamoro Region ayon sa Ministry of Health.

Tatlo sa mga ito ay mula sa Lanao del Sur at Marawi City habang dalawa naman sa Basilan at Lamitan.

Abot naman sa 153 ang naitalang gumaling na mula sa sakit, mas marami ito kaysa 100 na bagong kaso ng deadly virus.

BARMM to build 350 core shelters in five Maguindanao towns

COTABATO CITY – About 50 indigent families at Brgy. Sugadol in Datu Abdullah Sangki (DAS) Municipality in Maguindanao are set to benefit from the region-wide core shelter program of the Office of the Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim.

On Wednesday, June 2, the OCM’s Kapayapaan sa Pamayanan (KAPYANAN) Program led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the houses in the said village.

BARMM allocates P400M for Marawi water supply project

COTABATO CITY --- Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong, Jr. and Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim are to expand the water supply system in Marawi City using a P400 million grant from the regional coffer.

Adiong and Ebrahim forged a memorandum of agreement, enjoining their offices to jointly implement the project, on Saturday morning in Camp Darapanan, the headquarters of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, located in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao. 

Ebrahim is the chairman of the central committee of the MILF.

Police, military to secure desalination facility projects in Sulu, Tawi-Tawi

COTABATO CITY - The police and military assured on Saturday to secure P144 million worth of desalination facility projects in island towns in Sulu and Tawi-Tawi where supply of drinking water is scarce.

Police Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said Saturday the provincial police offices in both provinces have been directed to help local government units secure the multi-million projects.

Senators reiterate sectoral representation on BTA extension

COTABATO CITY — Senators Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri and Francis Tolentino answered Thursday some concerns circulating amid the 2nd day of interpellation for Senate Bill No. 2214 which seeks to extend Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) from 2022-2025.

Zubiri read the circulating message which says, Senator Tolentino allegedly “removed the representation of settler communities, who are Christians, from the transitory government, paving the way for absolute Muslim authority in the area”, and called it fake news.

MILG addresses potable water scarcity in island provinces thru desalination machines

COTABATO CITY – The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) will install in the island provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi ten (10) units of machines that will convert salty sea water into fresh drinkable water.

This is to address the scarcity of potable water in the area that has been going on for generations, according to MILG Minister Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo.

Provisions of bill postponing 2022 BARMM polls questioned

COTABATO CITY - The Moro National Liberation Front urged the Senate Thursday to fix what is for southerners “loopholes” in its Bill 2214, meant to reset to 2025 the 2022 Bangsamoro regional elections.

The measure can strip the MNLF of representation in BARMM’s parliament if approved without review, according to peace activists helping the national government and Moro communities push the Mindanao peace process forward.

The MNLF presently has 11 representatives in the interim Bangsamoro parliament.
