Lamitan former mayor, two others slain in shooting inside Ateneo Campus in QC

COTABATO CITY – Former Lamitan City Mayor Rose Furigay and two others were slain in a incident inside Ateneo de Manila University on Sunday, July 24, the national media and radio reports said.

In a statement released to journalists, the Quezon City Police said slain in the 2:55 p.m. shooting were:

Sitangkai’s first government center in 16 years; first wet market building in ages

SITANGKAI, Tawi-Tawi — Bangsamoro regional officials over the weekend marked the ground under low-tide seawater for the construction of a market building on stilts here.

1.2M new registrants in 10 days for barangay, SK polls

MANILA – More than a week after the resumption of voter’s registration nationwide, the number of new regular and youth voters has reached 1.2 million.

John Rex Laudiangco, acting spokesperson of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), reported over the weekend that as of July 14 or 10 days since registration resumed, there have been 1,209,888 applications for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) slated December 5.


Pres. BongBong Marcos tests positive for COVID-19

MANILA – President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), Malacañang announced Friday.

Marcos, whose antigen test result showed he is Covid-19 positive, has a slight fever, Press Secretary Beatrix Rose "Trixie" Cruz-Angeles said in a Palace press briefing.

"The President has tested positive in an antigen test for Covid-19. He has a slight fever but he is otherwise okay," she said.


Oil price rollback next week seen

PRRD's birthday wish for Sara: 'Good health, success'

MANILA – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is wishing his daughter, Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio, a "good health" and "success" in leading the country as the second top government official in the next six years.

That was Duterte's birthday message for Sara who turns 44 on Tuesday, acting Presidential Spokesperson and Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said in a virtual press conference.

"The President's wishes for our Vice President-elect are good health and success in her role as the second highest official of the land," Andanar said.
