Koronadal records 1st COVID-19 positive, but patient is in Davao hospital

Bagong kaso ng COVID 19 ay mula sa Barangay Zone 1, Koronadal City. Ang pasyente ay naka admit na sa SPMC Davao City at halos isang buwan na.

Ayon sa Koroandal City health office, hindi sa lungsod nakuha ang sakit kundi habang ang pasyente ay naka-confine sa Southern Philippines Medical Center sa Davao City.


Jolo bishop appeals for end to violence

JOLO, Sulu - Newly-installed Apostolic Vicariate of Jolo Bishop Charlie Inzon appealed for an end to the violence as twin bombings believed to be perpetrated by a suicide bomber rocked the island municipality anew Monday.

“Covid is already a terrible burden we carry daily. Spare us from yet another tragedy. God help us. Answer our prayers,” said Inzon exclusively to PressONE.ph. Inzon recently assumed his post as Apostolic Vicar of Jolo on July 16, feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, patroness of the vicariate.


COVID WATCH: 2 new cases in Kidapawan City, 3 recover in Region 12

COTABATO CITY - Five new cases of confirmed COVID-19 were reported tonight by the Dept of Health in the Soccsksargen region, raising the total confirmed cases to 407.

Of the five new cases, were from North Cotabato and two from Gen. Santos City.

Dr. Philbert Malaluan, North Cotabato rpovincial board member said the three new cases are the 56th, 57th and 58th confirmed positive cases of the province.

He identified them as:

56th case: 31, male, from Antipas

57th case: 21, male, from Kidapawan City

58th case: 23, male, from Kidapawan City


World Humanitarian Day 2020 Unicef staff on the frontlines in the battle against COVID-19

I have been working in the development and humanitarian sector for 21 years. Currently, I work as a health and nutrition officer in Unicef Philippines. I am one of the six essential staff in the Unicef Mindanao Field office in Cotabato City who continue our work despite the pandemic.

As the number of cases grow day by day, my colleagues and I wear our masks, frequently wash our hands and remind each other of the safety protocols to prevent ourselves from being infected.


Magnitude 6.6 earthquake damages structures in Masbate

A STRONG magnitude 6.6 earthquake rocked Central Philippiens early this morning, including the Bicol region and Eastern Visayas, the state seismologists.

Aftershocks are expected, according to Phivolcs.

Its epicenter was about five kilometers southwest of Cataingan town in Masbate and it rattled a large swath of central Philippines, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The tremor that came at 8:03 a.m. was felt in Bicol provinces, in the Visayas and in Quezon provinces. It occurred at a shallow depth of one kilometer.


Magnitude 5. 1 quake rocks Kalamansig ahead of 44th year anniv of Aug. 17 Moro Gulf killer quake

COTABATO CITY - Niyanig ng magnitude 5.1 na lindol ang lalawigan ng Sultan Kudarat, partikular sa karagatan sa harap ng Kalamansig.

Naganap ang pagyanig isang araw bago gunitain ang August 17 earthquake sa Moro Gulf na kumitil sa buhay ng maraming mga mamayan, 44 na taon na ang lumipas.  

Ayon sa Phivolcs, naitala ang pagyanig sa 66 kilometers southwest ng bayan ng Kalamansig, alas-3:22 hapon ng Linggo (August 16).

May lalim na 586 kilometers at tectonic ang origin ng pagyanig.


OUCH! Trailer truck vs multi-cab in Koronadal City

KORONADAL CITY - A trailer cargo truck collided with a multi-cab Thursday dawn along the national highway GenSan drive, this city while a 10-wheeler dump truck loaded with sand and gravel turned upside down along a road in Tboli, South Cotabato yesterday afternoon.

Traffic investigation showed that the driver and passenger of the multicab sustained serious injuries during the 1:45 a.m. vehicular crash.

The cargo truck was loaded with steel. Its driver, Leo Pellen Sera, 41, of Tantangan, South Cotabato is now under police custody.


COVID WATCH: 2 Cotabato City health workers test positive of COVID; No movement Sunday declared

COTABATO CITY - Two health frontliners have been tested positive of COVID-19, the Department of Health today said.

As a result, a no movement Sunday, was announced by Cotabato City Mayor Cynthia Guiani Sayadi.

Two others, one from Gen. Santos City and one from South Cotabato, were also tested positive. 

DOH-12 also reported 11 recoveries, including a 4-month old female, from Cotabato City.
