Foreign terrorist, 2 ASG members neutralized; high-powered firearms seized in Sulu clash

ZAMBOANGA CITY - A foreign terrorist and two Abu Sayyaf Group members were neutralized by the troops in Sulu on Friday evening.

According to WestMinCom Commander Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., the neutralized foreign terrorist was identified as a certain Yusop, one of the five remaining foreign terrorists monitored in Sulu.

2 hurt in Basilan roadside bombing

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two persons, including a soldier, were wounded in a roadside bombing perpetrated by suspected Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits in the hinterlands of Basilan province, military officials said Tuesday.

Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), said the incident happened around 6:25 a.m. Monday in Sitio Bohe Bekew, Barangay Baguindan, Tipo-Tipo, Basilan.

Dawlah Islamiya sub-leader slain in Marawi City military-police operation

MARAWI CITY -  Notorious Sub Leader of Dawlah Islamiya Local Terrorist group was killed in a joint law enforcement operation by PNP and Army troops in Guimba, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, 3:45 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2021.

The local terrorist was identified as Usop Nasif also known as Abu Asraf, the next in line of Abu Zacaria, the current Dawlah Islamiya terrorist leader in Lanao del Sur.

Nasif was declared dead on arrival at Amai Pakpak Medical Center when he was injured in a 30-minute firefight.

Evacuees return to conflict-stricken South Upi barangays

MAGUINDANAO --- Authorities returned Sunday 181 families to two barangays in South Upi town rocked by gunfights last year between two local clans.

The conflict-stricken villagers, mostly ethnic Tedurays, agreed to return to Barangays Lamud and Biarung in South Upi, Maguindanao after the Omar and Datuwata clans reconciled through the efforts of Mayor Reynalbert Insular, the Army’s 57th Infantry Battalion and the municipal police.

Authorities ready for Dawlah retaliatory attacks 

SOUTH COTABATO --- Authorities are anticipating a possible retaliation by the Dawlah Islamiya following the death of two key members in a police operation in Polomolok town last Tuesday.

Police Col. Jimuel Siason of the South Cotabato provincial police said Friday the slain Dawlah Islamiya members,  Jorhan Utap and Mohaimen Utap, are wanted for acts of terror, drug trafficking and fabrication of improvised explosive devices used in recent bombings in central Mindanao.

3 more Maguindanao towns declare state of calamity

COTABATO CITY – Local officials of three more towns in Maguindanao have declared state of calamity in their respective jurisdictions due to on-going armed conflict.

The armed conflict has displaced thousands of civilians in adjoining towns of Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Shariff Saydona Mustapha and Mamasapano.

On Tuesday, local legislators of have approved the separate resolutions putting their localities under state of calamity to allow the LGU to fund local relief operations to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) due to armed conflict..

Talitay LGU places entire town under state of calamity due to rido

COTABATO CITY – A state of calamity has been declared in the entire town of Talitay, Maguindanao, due to armed hostilities triggered by a family feud (rido).

Talitay Mayor Montasir Sabal approved Tuesday a resolution allowing the local government unit to use its quick response fund to provide relief assistance to displaced families.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has placed the internally displaced persons (IDPs) to about 700 families or 3,500 individuals.

7 NPAs surrender to Army in Lanao del Sur

LANAO DEL SUR --- The seven New People’s Army guerrillas who yielded to the 103rd Infantry Brigade Thursday shall be reintroduced to mainstream society with the help of local officials in their hometowns, the military said Monday.

The seven rebels --- Noli Tahadan, Ezel Peling, Marlon Talatayod, Ronald Otacan, Jessel Otacan, Vincent Vallar and Jessa Mae Otacan-Talatayod --- belong to the NPA’s self-styled North Central Mindanao Command.

‘Rido’ displaces 700 families in Maguindanao town

COTABATO CITY – Some 700 families or 3,500 individuals in Talitay, Maguindanao evacuated to safer grounds following an ongoing conflict between two warring clans (rido) in the area.

Lt. Col. John Paul Baldomar, Army’s 6th Infantry Division spokesperson, said on Wednesday that the affected villagers came from Barangays Pageda and Gadingan of the municipality.

Members of the joint government–Moro Islamic Liberation Front security team are now working on the disengagement of armed followers of the conflicting clans, Baldomar said.

Guns now silent in Datu Saudi Ampatuan; thousands displaced in 4-day conflict 

MAGUINDANAO --- Tension has waned in Datu Saudi Ampatuan town where soldiers and gunmen operating in the fashion of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria figured in deadly gunfights last week.

Members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters who instigated the hostilities in Barangay Kitango in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao have left the area after personnel of units under the Army’s 6th Infantry Division killed 11 from them, forcing their hasty retreat.
