2 dead, 3 hurt in Maguindanao gun attack

MATANOG, Maguindanao - Two were killed while three others were hurt, two of them pre-school children, in a gun attack in Barangay Langkong here Wednesday.

Captain Fhaeyd Cana, spokesperson of the Maguindanao provincial police, identified the fatality as Bro Lumbos, 43, and his three-year-old nephew.

He said Lumbos and his nephew both died in a hospital.

Col. Jibin Bongcayao, Maguindanao provincial police director, said Thursday personnel of the Matanog provincial police are now trying to identify the culprits for prosecution.

Security forces discover bomb factory in Maguindanao

7  Lanao del Sur drug dealers linked to terror group arrested

COTABATO CITY --- Seven drug dealers with links to the Dawlah Islamiya fell in a government entrapment operation in Marantao, Lanao del Sur Monday.

Gontora Musib Agar, Saoeki Marakna Mala, Asnawi Musid Gontora, Ansano Musid Gontora, Aber Dimao Mustapa, Abdul Kaher Gontor and Onaes Abul Kader are now clamped down in a detention facility of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

5 robbers dead in clash with police in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY --- Authorities shot dead five robbers after they took the cash collection of a roadside restaurant in Ampatuan, Maguindanao late Saturday.

Col. Jibin Boncayao, director of the Maguindanao provincial police, told reporters Sunday the group was led by Mihares Manunggal, who died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds. 

Bongcayao said Manunggal and his companions first robbed the Hannan Restaurant in Barangay Kauran, took its cash collection from owner Emma Militon at gunpoint and escaped using a white van as a getaway vehicle. 

Cop, wanted person killed in North Cotabato shootout

PIKIT, North Cotabato --- An alleged shabu trafficker and a policeman were killed in a shootout in Barangay Gli-Gli here on Saturday morning.

Policemen and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-12 were to arrest Musim Dalanda, also known as Musim Mama, long wanted for heinous offenses and large-scale distribution of shabu, but the operation turned haywire when he and his companions resisted, sparking a gunfight.

154 terrorists avail of rehab program

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao --- A large group of religious extremists, many of them bomb-makers, on Wednesday pledged allegiance to the government here in the presence of Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.  

The 154 men first renounced their membership with the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and the Dawlah Islamiya before they promised to thrive in peace in their respective hometowns in the adjoining provinces of Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat.

Drug dealer linked to terror group arrested in Lanao del Sur

BALABAGAN, Lanao del Sur --- Authorities seized P680,000 worth of shabu from a peddler linked to the Dawlah Islamiya, entrapped at Barangay Macao here noontime Tuesday.

Samsodin Pascan is now in the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

He shall be prosecuted for violation of the Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The 52-year-old Pascan is a resident of Barangay Pabrica in Marogong, Lanao del Sur. 

Hundreds of Maguindanao villagers displaced by `rido’ hostilities

SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao - Authorities are scrambling to settle a “rido” involving two heavily-armed Moro groups here whose gunfights over the weekend  displaced no fewer than 300 families.

Rido means clan war in most Southern Philippine languages.

Major Gen. Juvymax Uy of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division on Monday urged local officials to disengage the feuding groups to prevent the displacement of more residents in Barangay Sinditan here, scene of clashes that sent villagers running for their lives.
