2 farmers hurt in Buldon clan wars

COTABATO CITY (Sept. 15/NDBC)
– Two Moro peasants were
seriously wounded on Sunday in a crossfire involving two heavily armed ethnic
Iranon groups fighting for control of patches of lands in Buldon town in the
province.

In a statement Monday, the
Buldon municipal police identified the victims as Munir Renghis, 32, and Akmad
Abug, 28, who sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of their bodies.

Kidapawan mulls putting city in state of calamity KIDAPAWAN
CITY (Sept. 13/NDBC) – Following flash floods that hit the city’s low-lying
villages, the Kidapawan City government is mulling putting the city under state
of calamity, officials said today.

This
is to allow the executive branch to use its calamity funds in attending to the
needs of affected families and fund some infrastructure repairs to cushion the
impact of natural calamity.

500 families flee homes in BIFF attacks

MIDSAYAP,
North Cotabato (Sept. 12/NDBC) – About 500 families have fled their homes when
Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) harassed several villages of
Midsayap, North Cotabato Thursday.

But Supt.
Reynante delos Santos, Midsayap police chief, said most of the displaced
families have returned home Friday morning.

The Midsayap
local government unit reported about 300 families from Barangay Polomogen are
now temporarily housed in Barangay Bual Norte, also in Midsayap.

DILG reminds barangay govt on assembly day

KORONADAL CITY
(Sept. 11/NDBC) -- The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in
South Cotabato has reminded village officials of a memorandum circular
synchronizing the conduct of barangay assembly on the last Saturday of
September.

Lailyn Ortiz,
South Cotabato provincial interior and local government officer, made the
announcement during a news conference.

Gunmen rob LBC branch in Surallah

SURALLAH,
South Cotabato (Sept. 11/NDBC) – Two unidentified armed men robbed Wednesday an
LBC branch inside the town public market and fled with an estimated P30,000
cash and two smart mobile phones.

Superintendent
Benito Seron Jr, Surallah town police chief, said two men armed with hand guns barged
inside the LBC branch and declared hold-up.

After robbing
the establishment, the two fled on board a blue Honda XRM motorbike.

Mindanao stakeholders see passage of BBL for social recovery

MANILA, Sept. 10 (PNA) -- The business sector, youth, and various stakeholders in Mindanao see the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) as an end to the costs of war that would eventually pave way for social recovery in the region.In the statement of support, the Mindanao business sector particularly the Rotary Club of Tagum North, called for the prompt enactment of the BBL to ensure that the Philippines never again experiences huge economic losses due to war, a figure that has amounted to more than P640 billion since the conflict started in the early 1970s.

The President has just handed over to Congress the draft Bangsamoro Basic Law. This law, a child borne of countless hours of deep thought and discussion, is now in the hands of legislators whose duty is to study, deliberate and act upon all matters related to the advancement and welfare of the Bangsamoro people, and make the Bangsamoro Basic Law the basis of lasting peace and prosperity in Mindanao. This, our esteemed legislators, is a daunting task. The future of a people who for centuries have fought for self-determination now lies in your hands.
