P220 million worth Lanao Sur road project launched

LANAO DEL SUR --- Maranaw peasants in two Lanao del Sur towns stand to benefit from a P220 million road project that would connect their enclaves to major trading hubs in the province and in Bukidnon.Lanao del Sur is a component province of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) while Bukidnon is inside Administrative Region 10.ARMM Gov. Mujiv Hataman and Lanao del Sur’s chief executive, Gov. Mamintal Adiong, Jr.


2 Maguindanao towns remain flooded

DATU SALIBO, Maguindanao -- Close to 12,000 individuals have been displaced by floods in Maguindanao as a result of torrential rain brought about by Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone the past week, disaster officials today said. The Office of Civil Defense and the Humanitarian Emergency Action and Response Team (HEART) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), said nine towns of Maguindanao were severely affected but no displacement of locals.

Killed due to head and body injuries was Julius Aspa, 43, resident of Banga while his back rider, Christopher Asong, 27 was seriously wounded. Aspa was driving his Honda RS 125 motorbike along the highway in Barangay Liwanay when his bike collided head on with another motorbike driven by Joey de Guira, 25 of Barangay Kusan, also in Banga.

Cotabato City suspends elem, high school classes

COTABATO CITY - The Cotabato City governmentsuspended classes Wednesday in elementary and secondary schools, both in public and private due to inclement weather.Lawyer Cynthia Guiani Sayadi, Cotabato City administrator, in a text message to DXMS Radyo Bida,announced the suspension of classes as early as 5 a.m.The city government also suspended classes Tuesday afternoon for elementary and high school due to day-long rain over the city and its environs.

6th ID hosts PMA entrance exam for 517 aspirants

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao -- More than 500 aspirants took the Philippine Military Academy Entrance Examination (PMAEE) on Sunday at the 6th Infantry Dviision, the biggest number of examinees who took the test at the 6th Infantry Division.About 517 examines arrived to try their luck at joining the country’s premier military school. Out of 517 applicants, 378 were males and 139 were females. The number of examinees this year is greater than last years 400for Central Mindanao, Capt. Joan Petinglay, 6th ID spokesperson said.
