Magnitude 4.8 quake hits Sultan Kudarat coast
COTABATO CITY - A magnitude 4.8 earthquake hit the coastal towns of Sultan Kudarat province early Wednesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.In a statement sent to and//www.ndbcnews.com.ph www.ndbcnews.com.ph , Phivolcs said the epicenter of the 2:51 a.m. tremor was traced 134 kilometers southwest of Palimbang, a coastal town of Sultan Kudarat.No casualty or damaged to propertywas reported.The quake, which was tectonic in origin, was 598 kilometers deep.Phivolcs said after shocks are possible.Earlier, at 4:02 a.m. Tuesday, a magnitude 2.5 quake was recorded 53 kilometers wedt of South Upi in Maguindanao.Phivolcs said no casualty or damage to property was recorded and residents did not even feel the tremor.
