Maguindanao ex-jail guard shot dead in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY - A retired jail guard was shot dead by still unidentified gunmen a remote village here Wednesday night.Police identified the victim as Mohammad Mamocao, 48, former jail officer of the Maguindanao provincial detention facility.Mamocao was about to close his variety store in Buaya-buaya, Barangay Kalanganan, Cotabato City at10 p.m. when three men arrived on a motorbike.Without provocation, the gunmen armed with cal. 45 pistol shot Mamocao at close range, killing him instantly.Motive of the attack remained unknown.The latest shooting incident will add up to the rising statistics of criminality in the city.
