KORONADAL CITY - The National Telecommunication Commission in Region 12 has reminded netizens that surfing the internet and the social media should be accompanied with responsibility on the part of the users.Froilan Jamias, NTC 12 regional director, advised netizens to avoid using the internet, social networks and even mobile phones in posting malicious items or messagesagainst anyone because they can be tracked anytime.Jamias said security features of the social media is very weak and it should not be used to malign other persons or anyone.

Another NGCP tower bombed in Mindanao

COTABATO CITY -– Another steel pylon tower of the National
Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in Lanao del Sur has been bombed,
the second in five days this month, NGCP today said.

In a statement, the NGCP said Tower No. 50 which carries the Agus 2 –
Kibawe 128 kV line in Barangay Pantar, Bubong, Lanao del Sur was bombed on
Monday morning.

Fortunately, the structure was not toppled,” it said. Restoration work
is in progress.

GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Region 12 has not yet identified any hotspot or election watchlist area in the region in connection with the May 9 local and national elections.Michael Abas, Comelec Region 12 director, said Thursday the assessment of the potential election hotspots in the region is still ongoing in coordination with local units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).He said they are specifically evaluating localities that were listed as hotspots in the previous elections.


Cop set to marry on Jan. 30 dies in Koronadal highway mishap

KORONADAL CITY - A police officer scheduled to marry his girlfriend later this month died in a motorcycle crash Thursday dawn along a major highway here, DXOM-AM Radyo Bida reported today.Police Officer (PO1) Gilbert A. Cura, 30, of Tampakan, South Cotabato was declared dead on arrival at the South Cotabato provincial hospital after his motorbike crashed at about 2 a.m.Cura was with a friend,Jorar Cardenas 25, a resident of Barangay Carpenter Hill, Koronadal City when the accident happened.
