ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Zamboangueños will have a bright Christmas this year as the seven hours blackout ends Sunday.Omar Sahi, Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco) president, made this announcement Saturday citing the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has provisionally approved the 10-year Power Sale Agreement (PSA) entered into by Zamcelco and the Western Mindanao Power Corp.

TACURONG CITY --Anti-drug operatives recovered around Php 1.5 million worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu following a buy-bust operation in Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat on Saturday morning.Lyndon Aspacio, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region 12 director, said the illegal drugs were seized from the possession of alleged big time drug pusher Purita Reyes Jalos, who is believed part of a major illegal drug syndicate operating in the region.He said Jalos was arrested by their operatives at around 8:30 a.m.

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Police in North Cotabato refused to free from detention two suspected extortionists they arrested recently in an entrapment operations inside a bank for alleged extortion. COTABATO CITY- A 12-hour brownout will hit North Cotabato Electric Cooperative (Cotelco-PPALMA) area on Saturday, December 12, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced today.Melfrance Bambi Capulong, NGCP Southern Mindanao communications officer, said the power interruption will start at 6 a.m. and expected to be restored at 6 p.m. This is for maintenance works along our Sultan Kudarat-Midsayap 69KV line, Capulong said in a text message Thursday.Affected towns are Pigcawayan, Pikit, Alamada, Libungan, Midsayap andAleosan, more known as PPALMA.

KORONADAL CITY - A public school teacher was killed while another teacher was injured when unidentified man barged inside the victims' staff house in Lake Sebu,South Cotabatoand attacked them with a machete.The incident happened in Sitio Kulusubong, Barangay Ned, Lake Sebu.Chief Inspector JOven Bagaygay, Lake Sebu town police chief, identified the slain victim asJoy Rojo, 24 and resident ofSitio Tinugas, Barangay Ned.

KORONADAL CITY -- An old, three-classroom building in Purok Rizal Elementary School in Banga, South Cotabato was razed to the ground in a fire that hit at 6 a.m. Wednesday.Hermiginildo Lopez, school principal, the fire destroyed about P200,000 worth of old books and old classroom chairs. One of the burned classroom has been turned into a storage house. It rendered about 40 students classroom-less when the fire enguled the 40-year-old structure, Lopez said.A student allegedly saw the fire as it started and quickly alerted his classmates and teachers.

KIDAPAWAN CITY — Two suspected extortionists were arrested, including a maritime police officer,in an entrapment operation in Midsayap, North Cotabato Wednesday morning, police said said. Police Inspector Edwin Abantes, Midsayap PNP deputy police chief, identified the suspects as Omar Solidad, bus employee and Police Officer 1Howell Dequita, a member of PNP assigned in Maritime 12 in General Santos City. Abantes said the two suspects were residents of Barangay Rebuken, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.
