Jealousy leads to grenade blast in Zamboanga
ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Two persons were killed while four children were wounded in a grenade explosion in west coast barangay, this city, Friday.Chief Insp. Joel Tuttuh, Zamboanga City police spokesman, disclosed the incident took place around 10:49 a.m. at Sitio Agrarian, Barangay Patalon.Tuttuh identified the fatalities as Danilo Ocampo and Buyoy Mohammad, motorboat operator. Both died on the spot.Wounded were the followingand Roger Ramos, seven Joemarie Ramos, 10 Romelyn Ramos, 12 and, James Ramos, nine.Tuttuh said investigation showed that prior to the incident, Ocampo and his wife, Marites, had a verbal altercation due to jealousy. He said further investigation disclosed that Ocampo hired the services of Mohammad and forcibly took his wife from Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte to this city.He said Ocampo, upon arrival at the shore of Barangay Patalon, pulled the safety pin of the grenade he was holding that caused it to explode, killing him and Mohammad on the spot.He said the explosion also injured the four children, who were at the shore of Patalon. They were taken to the hospital.
