4 DOLE-12 interns claim Cotabato City village chair harassed, threatened them
COTABATO CITY - Four interns of the Department of Labor and Employment here have complained of threats and harassment against a village chair during an altercation inside Don E. Sero Elementary School Wednesday morning.Speaking to DXMS Radyo Bida, the four interns, tasked to list down and interview indigent pupils and their parents, asked not to be identified for security reason.They claimed that on Wednesday morning, armed tanods (village watchmen)of Chairman Amil Sula of Barangay Rosary Heights 5 arrived and confronted them for not coordinating with thebarangay officials. They were asked why they need to ask for voters' ID of students' parents before they are listed. The interns denied it.Later, the fuming madChairman Sula arrived and poked his gun on them. We were humiliated, cursed and forced into a van then brought us to the village hall, the interns said.They were later brought to the barangay hall were they were allegedly detained for about three hours until police operatives from station 2 arrived and rescued them.Sula, in an interview by DXMS Radyo Bida, admitted he carries guns because he was ambushed few years ago. But he denied the allegations against him by interns.During the interview, the interns vowed to pursue the case against Sula and his men.
