Despite El Nino, Kidapawan fiesta to proceed politicians excluded

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Despite El Nino, the city’s 18thfounding day celebrations this February will proceed with fanfare but sans politicians, especially those running in the national positions. City Mayor Joseph Evangelista said a ‘modest’ amount was allotted for the weeklong celebrations which will kick off on Feb 7 with the carnival costume parade, music, and dance festival. Tawi-Tawi tourists spend close to P1 billion as arrivals up by over 14% last year

COTABATO CITY-- Tourists arriving in 2015 in the island province of Tawi-Tawi spent close to P1 billion, tourism officials today said.The Tourism department in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DOT-ARMM), recorded a total of 55,085 foreign and domestic visitors in the province, a 14.3% increase in number from 2014, while posting P965 million in gross tourism receipts.Over 48,189 tourists came to the province for holiday or business purposes.

Shariff Kabungsuan Festival highlights sultanates, entry of Islam in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY -– This year’s Shariff Kabungsuan Festival, a cultural laced
remembrance of the coming of Islam in mainland Mindanao was relived with the
Moro tradition highlighted by deeper understanding of those responsible in
bringing faith to indigenous peoples thousands of years ago in the city.

ARMM hosts 1st Tourism Assembly

COTABATO CITY– Tourism officers and industry players across the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) gathered on Tuesday, December 1, in this city to strengthen tourism linkages within the region.The Department of Tourism in the region (DOT-ARMM) spearheaded the activity dubbed 1stARMM Tourism Assembly. The activity gathered more than 160 tourism officers from the provinces, cities and municipalities of the region, including tourism committee chairs from local government units, and tourism industry players as well as policy makers.
