Halo seen around the sun as viewed in Kidapawan
KIDAPAWAN CITY (Sept. 18/NDBC)— A rainbow formation circling around the sun and viewed from here became atrending topic among villagers, inMlang, North Cotabato andin social media. Shortly before noon today, residents were awed at the beautiful rainbow that appeared to be circling the sun in clear skies. Rodolfo Villacorte Prak, a resident of Nursery Site Phase 2 in Kidapawan City, said an optical phenomenon was seen in the city sky as early as 11:30 a.m. It’s very unusual, especially that the rainbow seemed to look like arcs,” Prak told and//www.ndbcnews.com.ph/ www.ndbcnews.com.ph . Prak even photograph the optical phenomenon and showed it to his friends who have missed it. Nice to see though, Sheena Marie Ebuetada said adding that she was blinded looking at the sun. Aileen May Adolfo-Rafaela was dismayed since she was not able to see the phenomenon. She had it on her Facebook account though. Wikipedia disclosed, ahalo, also known as a nimbus, icebow or gloriole, is an optical phenomenon produced by ice crystals creating colored or white arcs and spots in the sky. Many are near the sun or moon but others are elsewhere and even in the opposite part of the sky. They can also form around artificial lights in very cold weather when ice crystals called diamond dust are floating in the nearby air. (NDBC)
