Flood submerge low-lying villages in 2 NoCot towns

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Low lying villages in Matalam and Antipas, North Cotabato have been submerged to a knee-deep flood water following heavy downpour brought about by intense thunderstorm in Monday afternoon.

The villages of Linao, Sta Maria and Minamaing in Matalam and Luhong in Antipas were severely affected damaging several hectares of rice fields and fish pens.

About half million worth of agricultural products and about P300,000 worth fish cages with matured tilapia due for harvest were damaged after strong water current swept through the villages.

Biggest herd of sea mammals sighted in SarBay

KORONDADAL CITY  – Environmentalists in the Soccsksargen region today reported the sightings of five “sea cows,” commonly known by locals as “dugongs” off Sarangani Bay (SarBay) looking for food.

The sea mammals were spotted by the drone camera of Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape (SBPS) Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) foraging in the coast of Glan, Sarangani today, Friday (March 11), the last day of SBPS Week celebration.

Floods, landslides displace 300 SoCot town residents

KORONADAL CITY – At least 300 individuals were temporarily displaced after flash floods hit parts of the municipality of Lake Sebu and the near environs in South Cotabato the past two days.

In an interview on Wednesday, Rolly Aquino, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), said the evacuees were from the villages of Takunel and Poblacion, and two other sub-villages submerged by floodwaters following hours of moderate to heavy rains.

Landslides destroy 8 houses in upland Maguindanao town 

COTABATO CITY --- Eight houses of ethnic Tedurays in Upi, Maguindanao were destroyed before dawn Tuesday by mud and rocks that cascaded from a hillside, loosened by heavy downpours.

The Upi Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said no one was hurt in the incident.

Emergency responders said about 300 cubic meters of mud and rocks from a hill in Purok 3A in Lower Bialong in Barangay Nuro, Upi ploughed through a road and hit adjoining houses along the route.

Eight houses made only of light materials were flattened by the debris.

Mahigit 300 katao sa Lake Sebu lumikas dahil sa mga pagbaha at landslide

KORONADAL CITY-Abot na sa mahigit tatlong daang mga indibidwal ang nanatili ngayong sa mga evacuation sa bayan ng Lake Sebu, South Cotabato as of 3 AM kanina.

Ang mga ito ay apektado ng pananalasa ng mga pagbaha at landslide sa mga barangay ng Takunel, Poblacion at dalawa pang mga Sitio.

Ito ay ayon kay Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rolly Aquino.

Ayon kay Aquino apektado din ng kalamidad ang barangay Maculan at iba pang lugar sa nasabing bayan.

Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao binaha kagabi

BINAHA ANG LOW LYING AREAS sa Dalican, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao dahil sa pagbaha.

Nagsimulang tumaas ang tubig sa mga kalsada alas 5:30 ng hapon kasunod ng malakas na ulan.

Agad na pinakilos ni Datu Odin Sinsuat Mayor Cheryl Mary Rose Ann Sinsuat ang municipal disaster risk reduction units upang tulungan ang mga nabahaan.

Nabigla ang karamihan dahil kauna-unahan ito sa kanilang lugar. Ilan sa kanila pansamantalang nanunuluyan sa town covered court.

Binaha na rin kaninang madaling araw ang mga low lying areas sa Barangay Kurentem, Datu Odin Sinsuat.

Floods hit Iligan, destroy bridges, submerge communities

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Two cities in Northern Mindanao Region on Monday suspended classes and work as the low pressure area (LPA) caused flooding in several communities.

A memorandum issued by Iligan City Mayor Celso Regencia said Sunday’s torrential rains have caused major roads and bridges to flood, making them impassable to vehicles.

He said some areas were affected by landslides as reported by the City's Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (DRRMC), which damaged the roads and other infrastructures.

Sinabi sa Radyo Bida ni Demetillo, gabi nitong Feb. 17 ay hinabol ng kanilang aso ang tarsier kaya't kanya itong iniligtas.

Sa panayam ng Radyo Bida kay MENRO head Joaquin Tacula, sinabi nitong walang sugat at nasa mabuting kondisyon ang tarsier kaya't kaagad nila itong pinakawalan.

2 dolphins rescued in Sultan Kudarat, sent back to the wild

 

COTABATO CITY  – Two wounded sea mammals were safety returned to their natural habitat after environmentalists treated them of their injuries, officials said.

In a statement on Friday, Forester Iskak Dipatuan of Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), said the two “Bottlenose Dolphin” (Tursiops truncatus) ran aground along the coast of Barangay Poral in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.
