5 die in Kidapawan highway accident

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Five persons were killed on the spot and two others were hurt in an
early morning highway mishap Saturday involving a speeding passenger van and a motorbike
driven by drunk motorists in Barangay Paco here, disaster officials said.

Bernalte, Kidapawan City disaster action officer, said involved in the 4 a.m.
highway mishap were a Mitsubishi L-300van (KGL--720) from Cagayan de Oro City heading for Kidapawan City and the motorcycle (license plate 7404 MB)heading toward Matalam, North Cotabato.
Bernalte said
in a phone interview that the motorcycle went counter flow along portions of
the national highway in Barangay Paco.
The motorcycle
driver and his back rider died on the spot while three other van passengers
expired before reaching the hospital.

hospital were Delfin Querkis, 47 and his wife Prescilia, 45, both van
passengers.
Bernalte identified two of the fatalities as Vince Ocumen andElto Bayodo of Cagayan de Oro.
