Region 12 police destroy another marijuana farm
GENERAL SANTOS CITY --- Lawmen cut and burned 243 marijuana shrubs in Malungon town in Sarangani over the weekend, the sixth in Region 12 in just two weeks.
Supt. Romeo Galgo, Jr., information officer of the Police Regional Office 12 here, on Monday said they learned of the marijuana farm in Barangay Bla’an in Malungon town from vigilant villagers who even volunteered to guide policemen to its location.
The raid was carried out by combined personnel of the Sarangani provincial police office, the Malungon municipal police and barangay officials led jointly by Senior Inspector Richard Pabalinas and Chief Inspector Roy Yasay.Policemen, backed by soldiers from the Army’s 27th Infantry Battalion, earlier destroyed five marijuana farms in different towns in South Cotabato province, where they uprooted about 2,000 plants in one operation after another. The marijuana plants were set on fire by the raiding teams in the presence of local executives and barangay officials.Galgo said investigators from the Malungon municipal police collected enough volume of marijuana plants from the farm in Barangay Bla’an to be used as evidence in prosecuting two propagators, the relatives Bungay and Nut, both surnamed Malila.
