PhilHealth-12 personnel capture NNC quiz, cooking contest

KORONADAL
CITY – Coming prepared was the key to win and capture the top spot in any
competition, be it battle of the brains, skillsor physical competition.

With
this in mind, Queenie Jane Tamalla of PhilHealth 12 bested other government servants
from various national government agencies in Region 12 in the Nutrition
Month culmination activity Nutri Quiz here.

The
crown is mine,” declared Tamallo as she reported for work after the competition
at The Farm resort. The secret, Tamallo came in prepared and reviewed her
assignments.

In
fact, Tamallo made all the correct answers in the Quiz hosted by Karl Mike

This year’s theme, First 1,000 days ni baby, pahalagahan
para sa malusog na kinabukasan” aimed to stress the significance of good
maternal nutrition and proper infant and young child feeding practices.

The National Nutrition Council (NNC) in Region 12
stressed life starts on the day of conception as presented in the audio visual.
Babies are solely dependent on their mothers for nourishment. It said mothers in this sense
are encouraged to be health conscious and provide their babies with essential
nutrients in their growing years.

PhilHelath personnel, Jennil G. Santocildes and Rocky John A. Manansala, as
they have won the complementary food cooking contest for 6-23 months old babies.

Their winning recipe will be included in the recipe booklet
for distribution to local nutrition workers. Dr. Franciso Mateo, Department of Health (DOH-12)
OIC regional director, encouraged pregnant women to deliver their babies in
birthing facilities and have them breastfed.

which include various proper food intake like fruits and vegetables, meat, fish
and other protein rich foods,” Mateo said.

milk and be sure to take clean and safe water. Get rid of sweets, salty and
oily rations. Maintain normal weight and get active. Avoid excessive wine
intake and stop smoking,” he added.

Other activities were Search for Malusog na Buntis
participated by 20 pregnant women from Koronadal City, Nutri-poem contest with
3 entries and photo exhibit relevant to first 1000 days participated solely by
the Notre Dame of Tacurong College.
