New 69-KV transmission line energized in North Cotabato
ANTIPAS, Cotabato -- Officials of the Cotabato Electric Cooperative (Cotelco) energized on Wednesday another 69-kilovolt transmission line located in Antipas, North Cotabato. The project, which costs P100 million, will benefit thousands of electric consumers in Antipas and Arakan, both hinterland towns.The Antipas transmission line will get power from Cotelco’s 10MVA sub-station in Barangay Paco, Kidapawan City.By energizing the line, the coop officials believe they would b resolving power woes of their consumers in the hinterlands.For several months now, the coop has been receiving complaints from consumers of low to no power.The Antipas line is an addition to at least three existing 69-KV transmission lines owned by the power coop since it started its operations few decades back.There are an estimated 100,000 power consumers in Cotelco’s service areas in North Cotabato, data from the company showed.The coop gets power supply from the coal-fired plants of the Aboitiz in Toril, Davao City geothermal power of the Energy Development Cooperation at Mount Apo hydroelectric power from Agus plants in Iligan City and Therma South, Inc., in Mati, Davao Oriental.Coop officials say the company is no longer lacking in supply since there are already enough power producers in Mindanao.
