Motorist dies in a highway mishap on All Souls' Day in South Cotabato
SURALLAH, South Cotabato -- A motorist was killed here after a three vehicle smash up in front of a public cemetery filled with commuters, cemetery goers and parked vehicles.Chief Inspector Joel Fuerte, Surallah town police chief, identified the fatality as Herman Panolino, 41, resident of Barangay Dumangas, Tboli, South Cotabato.Fuerte said Panolino was driving a motorcycle going to Tboli town and a Mitsubishi L-300 FB van (PJO-291)was tailing him. As the two vehicles were approaching a crossroad leading to public cemetery, the van hit the motorcycle from behind that sent Panolino flying at about 9 a.m. The van was speeding and its driver did not notice the motorbike in front, Fuerte said of the accident that happened in Purok Rizal, Barangay Lamsugod.After the van hit the rear of motorbike, its driver, lost control of the steering wheel and hit a parked Ford Ranger pick-up (UXO - 171). Fuerte said the van turned upside down after it hit the parked Ford pick-up truck.
