Missing 13-year-old boy in Libungan river found dead
LIBUNGAN,
North Cotabato – Emergency teams, police, military, village officials and
volunteers today found the remains of a 13-year-old boy who drowned while
swimming along Gumaga river here, police said.
Chief
Inspector Bernard Tayong, Libungan police chief, said the lifeless body of
Jimboy Ravena was fished off downstream by joint teams from North Cotabato
provincial government, local police, Libungan and Cotabato City rescue units at
about 1:30 p.m, or about 24 hours after he was last seen by his two friends.
Tayong lauded
the joint efforts of government agencies and civilian volunteers who weathered the
30 meters wide with strong current Gumaga river.
Tayong said
Revena and his two playmates were swimming along the river when he suddenly
went missing. His playmates saw him carried by water current downstream.
They alerted
the police who quickly coordinated rescue units for search and possible rescue
operations.
