Markedly attractive Baiwalk riverside park inaugurated
COTABATO CITY --- There is a new “peace landmark” in this city now frequented by Muslim, Christian and Lumad tourists from across central Mindanao.
Congresswoman Bai Sandra Sema of the first congressional district of Maguindanao and representatives from the three communities inaugurated Wednesday the now tourist attraction “Baiwalk” (baywalk).
A project of the now outgoing third-termer congresswoman, the Baiwalk along the picturesque and historic Tamontaka River in Cotabato City is a two-kilometer riverbank erosion control structure and a riverside park.
The Baiwalk is also an attraction to visitors from outside Mindanao and from abroad who come to Cotabato City either for business and other official functions, or for personal purposes.
The symbolic inauguration of the Baiwalk on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, was graced by dignitaries, among them Major Gen. Cirilito Sobejana of the Army's 6th Infantry Division and Muslimin Sema, who is a senior official of the Moro National Liberation Front.
Islamic and Christian religious leaders from Cotabato City and nearby towns in Maguindanao were also present in the event.
