Kidapawan LGU installs CCTV cams along major streets
KIDAPAWAN CITY – The Kidapawan City government has installed high resolution closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) as part of security preventive measure and to record crime related incidents in major city streets.Mayor Joseph Evangelista said in a statement the local government unithas allocated P2 million to acquire the CCTV facilityas a means of promoting public safety for all motorists, commuters and pedestrians passing along four identified locations in Quezon Boulevard. These high tech equipment were installedalong the national highway, specifically atQuezon Boulevard-Barangay Avenue Intersection Quezon Boulevard-Jose Abad Santos Street Intersection corner ofQuezon Boulevard andDayao Street Datu Ingkal Street Intersection and Quezon Boulevard-Alim Street Intersection. Each CCTV location is composed of a pole with a radio antenna equipped with IP cameras to ensure efficiency and day and night wide CCTV coverage.Transmission of the CCTV from each location to the Operation Center is wireless through National Telecommunications (NTC) authorized Wide Area Network. In worst cases like untoward incidents happeningduring periods of brownouts or the server is temporarily shut down, the SD card from the camera can be retrieved and be accessed at the operations center. These cameras are primarily intended to prevent disaster risks and crime,” Evangelista said. It follows that its operation center has personnel watching over the city day and night to call the 911, police or firemen depending on a type of monitored emergency.Should a vehicular accident or crime happened is captured by the CCTV cameras videos and pictures can be made available to authorities. The ‘decentralized’ design of the CCTV cameras will help local authorities conduct investigations on disputed vehicular accidents and for crime solution later on.
