Kabacan student dies allegedly after fraternity initiation

KABACAN, North Cotabato -- A 26-year old student here has died allegedly due to hazing of a fraternity he recently joined, police said.Senior Inspector Ronnie Cordero, Kabacan police chief, identified the victim as Bobong Bualan student of St. Luke's Institute in Poblacion Kabacan.Investigation showed that Bualan, who resides at Bai Matabay Plang Village in Barangay Poblacion, was last seen sitting on the terrace of his boarding house located along corner Aglipay and Bonifacio Street before he collapsed Sunday.His board mate, Leo Terante of Pigcawayan, North Cotabato, rushed him to the hospital where he died hours later.Cordero said Bualan had contusions and body injuries believed to be caused by an initiation he underwent in nearby Matalam, North Cotabato. He recently joined the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity - University of Southern Mindanao (USM) chapter.Police are inviting Tau Gamma Phi fraternity (Treskelion) members to shed light on the incident.
