Baste Duterteand Mindanaons must patronize Mindanao products
BULUAN, Maguindanao – Mindanaons should
patronize Mindanao products.
This was the message of Presidential son Baste
Duterte when he spoke during the 2nd Inaul Festival cooking show
here Monday.
He said Maguindanaon’s should patronize Mindanao’s
century’s old weaving practice that produces intricate designs of weaved
fabrics called Inaul.
Baste said like him and many constituents of
Maguindanao and its leaders, everybody should start to recognize their own
culture.
I’m looking for my identity here as a true
Filipino, we have to choose that we are Filipino and not the traits of foreign
influence, we must feel our own culture, Baste said in mixed Visayan and
Tagalog at the trade expo center where Inaul products are displayed.
Baste, who has strong influence on millennials, was
invited by Maguindanao Assemblyman King Jhazzer Mangudadatu to help them in the
promotion of Inaul products.
The presidential son also toured Buluan Lake and
visited the women’s peace center building where production and exhibit of Inaul
products are managed by a group of women.
Baste was amazed to the creativity of Maguindanaon
women upon seeing various designs of Inaul and how they intertwined with other
crafts like water hyacinth in producing Inaul by products like bags, wallets,
among others.
Tourism officials also showed him preserved 18th
and 19th century-old Inaul’s used by women Moro royalty ancestors.
If you want to do business in Davao just tell me,
we have to help with one another, we will find a venue for your products there,
we are just neighbors and lets unite on this pursuit, Baste said in his
speech.
Baste also calls for support for the shift to
Federalism and Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) where. He said Mindanaons have been longing for
self-rule in their communities.
Let’s decide for our own (fate) and not just those
powerful few in the position that decide for us, let our taxes be felt by our
local taxpayers, he said. (Ferdinandh Cabrera)
