Another grenade attack hits Cotabato City
COTABATO CITY - Another grenade hits this city Wednesday, the third grenade attack on a government office since Saturday, police said.Senior Inspector Roel Zafra, speaking for the Cotaato City police office, said the grenade, an M26-A9 fragmentation hand grenade, exploded in front of National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Maguindanao office along Rosales Street at 3:50 p.m.Nobody was hurt as the grenade fell into and drainage canal and went off.Quoting witnesses, police said two men riding tandem on a motorbike lobbed the explosive.On SAturday night, a smoke grenade was lobbed at the Traffic Management Unit office beside Police Station 1 lock up cell. Police said smoke grenade was meant to let the detainees escape the packed detention cell.On Monday afternoon, a grenade was lobbed at the roof of Police Station 2 at the corner of Sinsuat and Rabago avenues. It did not explode.Zafra said manhunt against the men behind the series of grenade attacks continues. He said it could be the handiwork of men affected by police crackdown on illegal drug personalities.
