More IEDs found in troubled Shariff Saidona town

MAGUINDANAO --- Units of the Army’s 6^th Infantry Division comprising the anti-terror Joint Task Force Central found more improvised explosive devices in the surroundings of Barangay Pusaw in Shariff Saidona Mustapha, Maguindanao Wednesday.

The IEDs were left by terrorists as they abandoned their hideouts in Barangay Pusaw after a series of gunfights with soldiers from between Monday and until late Tuesday.

The military operation was launched after the villagers reported to the 6^th ID a plot by the Dawlah Islamiya, also known as the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, to bomb selected non-military targets in central Mindanao to avenge the deaths of more than 10 members killed in recent encounters with pursuing military forces.

Soldiers recovered nine IEDs in abandoned Dawlah Islamiya hideouts in Barangay Pusaw in subsequent clearing operations from after dawn Wednesday till noontime the same day.
