Wayward truck kills 4 in Cotabato town

KIDAPAWAN CITY ---Four persons, three of them were motorcycle drivers, died instantly when a wayward 10-wheeler truck rammed their vehicles along the national highway in Makilala, North Cotabato Thursday morning.One of the victim's body was cut into two when the truck driver, negotiating a downward portion of the national highway in Barangay Patulangon, Makilala, North Cotabato, lost control of its brake system and went wayward.The driver escaped after the incident, according to Makilala traffic office.Witnesses said it took the emergency medical staff of Kidapawan City’s Call 911 and rescue volunteers from Makilala LGU an hour retrieving the bodies from the cliff where the truck crashed.Authorities also recovered from the crash site two of the three motorcycles, including a SkyGo motorcycle with license plate number MM 5353 and a brand new Yamaha STX motorcycle.Barangay Patulangon chairman Melvin Fortajada said four people on the three motorcycles were killed on the spot.The truck was from Davao City en route to the town proper of Makilala.Fortajada said they will compel the owner of the hauler truck to help in the burial of the four fatalities in the accident.Chief Inspector Aldrin Gonzalez, spokesman of the Police Regional Office-12, said the Makilala police will take custody meantime of the damaged truck and motorcycles pending resolution of the case.Photos courtesy of DXND Radyo Bida Kidapawan.
